(All corrected and up to date - thanks for reminding me ^.^)

Brazentalons chuckles, shaking out his wings and trotting after you. "I'm sure we'd sneak past one of those old things with no bother this time."

You find yourself back on the Adventurer's Road, the forest now behind you and your favour almost completed. Now you just have to get back to the stall.

The sun is close to setting, the sky darkened and tinged golden orange at the horizon. The air is chill and your breath condenses in front of you and Brazentalons.

"I've never been so happy to see the sky in my life," he says.

(Just wanted to amend the no-fly-zone law above Elvenor since I remembered something from a while back - it is in place for non-official flyers but messengers and guard/soldier patrols would be commonplace)

"Mhm." I rub my arms while walking down Adventurer's Road. "Brr, it's cold. Luckily we're getting a blanket." I try to concentrate on making a blue fireball before moving on again.

(I'd wondered how I had so many pings xDD)

You barely have time to get some sleep before a goblin jumps into the back of the cart, grabbing a bag off of you and sticking his hand in it. From it he takes something dried and starts munching it, not really paying much attention to you. Whatever it is, it stinks, but the prospect of food makes your mouth water.

"Okay," Crimson says, coming to walk close to you along with Emberpaw and Shootingstar. The two phoenix fly higher to the safety of the skies.

Over the next rise, a town appears. The rise of the mountains overshadow it, making the town seem smaller than it actually is.

"Flintswood," Numbat says, seeming calmer now there is little snow to be seen. "A town where dwarves who don't fit in to the sunless mining cities of the north can live in a peaceful middleground."

A little flame sparks into existance in front of you and grows to be about the size of your fist. You can't make it any larger though, but it warms you enough to keep the bitter cold away.

You arrive at the city gates to find yourself in a long line of people waiting to be checked through. Evidently many have decided to arrive just before sundown and it's taking some time.

Asteria looks at the town in awe, "Flintswood nice name for it." She runs a hand over Crimson's back, "We all will be in and out as fast as possible agreed?"

I sigh and decide to practice fire magic while waiting. I shuffle out of the line a little so I don't end up setting someone on fire. Brazentalons could probably hold my spot in the line if someone tries to cut in front of me. I just try to shrink and enlarge the flame, slowly pass the fireball from hand to hand, and change the form of the flame a little. And hope nothing bad happens because of this.

The northern trader shrugs, a pitying look on his face. "I've kept on the Adventurer's road from here to the northern territories for years, and I certainly haven't seen centaurs staying up there for long. Too cold and mountainous for us - I doubt any centaur in their right mind would stay up there without a great reason telling him to do so.

"As for someone else who might know, I don't think you'll find much luck with that in the Northern territories. Dwarves are slow to trust, and they'd be the only ones you'd probably be able to ask. And even then, they don't really pay too much attention to the people they trade with."

The western trader looks perhaps to be halfway finished packing away.

"Thank you anyway, and good luck on your travels." I glance over the runestones one last time to give the appearance of actually browsing, wanting to show respect to the old merchant.

Your stomach grumbles and the goblin snorts.

"Small elf," he squeaks. "Not much fight in you, eh?" He prods you with a finger, half grinning, half chewing. "You eat goblin food. You get stronger, huh? You make for exciting fight, yes, yes?" His eyes are wide and he pokes you again.

She nods with a grin. "Agreed."

Numbat walks down the hill toward the town, looking back at you and throwing up his arms. "Well, you coming?"
