"Small elf," he squeaks. "Not much fight in you, eh?" He prods you with a finger, half grinning, half chewing. "You eat goblin food. You get stronger, huh? You make for exciting fight, yes, yes?" His eyes are wide and he pokes you again.
He grunts bordely. This goblin has bad manners and bad insults. He's pretty sure he can think up something better then "small elf". Dandelion head. Colorless.
As for fight....
Well.
Fun.
Though why him is a good quesiton.

Brazentalons watches you and trills appreciatively as you practice. You manage to slowly make it larger, change its size more easily and if you really concentrate you can make it into lots of different shapes.
You're doing fine, but you feel a little less focused as time goes on and your hunger is more noticable than before. It takes more work as you practice and practice, using your magic, but that's to be expected.
You and Brazentalons finally reach the gate. The sun is setting. The guards quickly check you over, clearly desperate to get you all moved on as soon as possible so it doesn't take long to get inside. The crowds are large as people make their way back from work.
"Time to get that blanket then," Brazentalons chirps, his feathers fluffed up in the cold. "I can't lend you my feathers, so it'll have to do."

(No gold as yet, only trading and favours can be used in the beginning. You can get gold by completing favours, doing missions/bounties, selling items, performing and the like, stealing...)
He smiles back at you, bowing his head in farewell. "No problem at all, I'm happy to help. May your path be one of fortune, Silvermane." By the look of humour in his eyes, you can tell he knows you aren't really browsing but he seems to be grateful for you pretending to do so anyway.
The western merchant appears suddenly frustrated by something, and by his glare under his counter and around it you can tell he's had something lifted. He grabs the rest of his stuff and flings it into the cart with a dark look at the passers by.

"I wouldn't want you to sacrifice your pretty feathers for me anyways," I say. I walk through the crowd and go to the dwarf's stall.
Delirious twists trying to move into a better position as she tries to push the barrier out of its place and smother the flame.
"No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!"

He makes a whining sound. "No noise! Not good. Arena likes lots of noise. Arena is very noisy! Lots of cheering. You like cheering, yes?" he nods enthusiastically. "Cheering and we get money. Growling and we do not. Cheering better."

You walk into town, finding yourself in a small square. There are a few shops in the buildings on all sides, besides that it seems just to be houses for the villagers. It's not noisy like Elvenor, instead the only noises to be heard are the sounds of nature, children running around playing and other dwarves who haven't gone down to the mines. There should be people in the shops, though. They appear to be open.
Numbat shies away under a heavy hood that conceals most of his features. "No-one needs to know I'm a goblin," he explains.

He makes a chirping noise at that, and his feathers fluff up some more.
You make your way back to the stall. The dwarf has stayed at his counter the whole time, though some of his things are packed away.
"I thought you'd gotten lost! Did you manage alright?" he says warmly, already lining out an array of different blankets.

(Mwe heh heh >:D)
You swipe big clumps of the barrier out from the rest of the construction. As the burning section is seperated from the rest, it smoulders away into nothing and the disaster is averted.
Now the remains of your barrier are scattered across the ground, though. Cool night air is kept at bay by your happy little fire burning away.
