O.o I am actually really, really happy with the changes made o.o they are really minor differences, but now. ..now I'm actually in love with them o.o I'm surprised and blown away how such simple things could change my impression of then so drastically!
The little baby girl is definitely my fave. The longer tail makes her so much adorable <3
Add for the comments I've seen about making makes and females more similar, I have to disagree. One of the things that really put me of about species like aurleon, which ate very similar in appearance, is that similarity. I like the females looking different than the males. It makes it easier to see if you are battling a male or female. Even if such drastic differences may not be common in nature, I feel like in a fantasy game situation, it's better to be able to discern between male and female Easily.

Oh cool. Still fluffy-puffy, but pointier muzzles (while keeping that somewhat pronounced stop that shows how smart they are), mobile, expressive ears...and the male's hip is visible and well-placed. Also, his little front feet are still together, which is one of the niftiest things about his pose. The female's ears especially are vastly improved. They look like she could swivel them back and forth at any moment.
This is so much of an improvement over a start that was already good, I feel bad for still having a single point to make. For the sake of my beloved Starter pet, Calamander, I'm gonna do it, though. Please let the male Zolnixi keep his tiny I-know-something-you-don't-know* smile! (I also think it makes him look more alert.)
*Imagine this being said in a soft, sing-song voice.

I do like the more sloped forehead of the newest update. I do not at all like the muzzle though. I think it is too thin and the expression is just bland. I personally don't like the males have to be serious while females have to be cutesy and happy. I don't see how the smirk is a feminine facial expression, but change it if you like. He doesn't look serious to me as much as just emotionless. I don't know if the eye was changed as well, but the whole face seems to have less persnality to me. Foxes are supposed to be wiley little things so a snarky attitude seems like a legit thing to me. My 2 cents. I really like the female. I am pretty happy overall. I gave my critiques to mocha o. The stream while she was doing the lineart the other day though so I got used to them :) Regardless what happens to them in the end though it's been a fun ride and they are fluffy and adorable. I'll be grabbing myself a few ladies if nothing else XD

The new redraw looks MUCH better. I love the longer mouth that the male has but I also agree that he looks emotionless/angry. Would love to see the corner of his mouth upturned in a small smile/smirk, as I loved the mischevious look that they had/have.
Also love how much more realistic and flowy they look. They look like any moment they'll come to life and well have foxes/wolfies running about. This makes me love the Nixies so much more.
Oh yeah... FLLUUUUUUUFFFFYY!!!! XD

I still feel like the male pup could use some work on that mouth. Compared to the rest of the lineart (even though it's not facing forward), it just doesn't match the style of the other faces. Because the line of the mouth tapers off, compared to the rest of the mouths (which are all one long line), it just looks odd. I think if you connected the smile to the muzzle, it would read better.
And I think the female pup's cheek fur is too poofy. xD; It looks unkempt compared to her adult form.
Also, this might be the one time I ever mention it *gaspu*, but I think a line on the male pup's back denoting his spine would actually help the form read better. @w@

The female's tail size is in better proportion than it was compared to her body-size, but I'd like to see the tip fanned a bit, since it very likely would be in that position on a live animal. I would also like to see the male's tail aloft and fanned. You have managed to convey a sense of somewhat heavier bones on the male, an upheld tail would show it to a better display, though.

That tuft of fur on the back of the head is just a bit high. That should be part of the ruff...much lower as in at or below the jaw and that section with the pointy fur should be smooth.
Also, I think the base of the ears could stand to be just a touch wider. They look like they've got pins on the bottom and have been stuck onto a fabric covered Styrofoam ball of a head, as they are.
I just wanted to get this comment out there for this revamp and all future revamps because I've been seeing some comments going in the opposite direction.
Please, please keep the sexual dimorphism to a minimum? Most of the species that are the primary example for these pets don't look especially different when it comes to male and female and I kind of hate it when the two pets look as if they're completely different species. Case in point would be the current morkko, which makes me quite sad to see. An example of after the revamp would be the vulnyx, which I do love dearly but they really look quite different to me and I don't like that.
This revamp in particular is kind of on a thin line for me, it's extremely obvious which one the female is, she's quite small and girly and "dainty" looking and I just. Kind of wish she wasn't quite so much? Honestly this redraw looks very nice and it's not a big enough difference to put me off much, but I really wish that the two pets wouldn't quite be so...Obvious about the gender difference.
I really enjoy the Draeyl, Griffi, and Nytekrie in that respect. They're clearly different genders but the female and male still look distinctly similar. And while I know these pets have a distinctly human influence in pose and expression and all, because we want to connect with them...Just. Please. Don't make it so that the male always has to be "tough and sturdy and serious" while the female is "dainty and smiling." I do like that honestly, the females usually are my preferred pet because they're more interesting/pretty to look at.
I guess I'm just trying to say that...I love the human influence in the pets, and I know making them distinct from the other gender gives more personality but just...Try to keep it kind of minimal? It bothers me a little seeing the same thing in the genders of all the pets, and the calls for making the pets even more "masculine" and "feminine" and taking away from the fact that most animals aren't that different it just...Well it gets to me a little.
Not trying to kick up a huge fuss or sound whiny or anything. I'm loving all the revamps, all the art has really been improved. Just...Food for thought, maybe?
I also support this so hard. On the Morkkos it really bugs me that the boys are all fierce looking and snarling while the girls look much less intimidating and have eyelashes. I want fierce looking girls too! It would make more sense for them to be more similar and less conforming to human stereotypes of gender. Like, why do so many pets that are female have prominent eyelashes? That seems silly to me. :p
On the other hand, some like Aeridini are great because they don't show the typical "this is a boyish boy pet and this is a girly girl pet". And I do appreciate that. c:
ALL THAT BEING SAID I am so excited for this update askjdahsldj
