A small child cries on their bed, awoken by nightmares. They wipe at their face, small hands clenched. A sniffle, a small cough. They look up, startled by a small whinny. A Kelpari delicately floats before them. Its mane shimmers, vapor of sweet dreams surrounds it. They squeak, afraid, yet entranced by their dazzling wings creating spots of light around the room. The water horse nuzzles them softly, and the child's fears dissipate. The horse seems to smile, dragging the blanket back over them before leaving out of the open window, another child's cries silenced this night.
As the child falls asleep, they know they have a guardian.

Deemix, Hunter of the Depths

Just like with albinism, all Sylesti species can be born with a rare defect that causes them to have dark purple skin with bioluminescent markings . And as you would imagine, just like albinism, this defect is not very conducive to survival in the wild, so to see one of these beauties alive is rare. But this Kelpari in particular has managed to survive by swimming down into the deep sea, where other creatures with similar adaptations live. He realized that this had actually given them an advantage to living in the dark depths of the ocean, so he watched how other beings lived down here and mimicked them until he became a successful hunter himself. Now he travels the deep in search of other Kelpari like himself, thinking that there must be more who have the same defect and have also figured out how to live down here....Hopefully... Desperately... Lonely...

(Based off a color scheme I commonly use that I like to call "Night Glow", I've already completed a Kelpari project with these colors, but this is an updated one with new genes that I came up with.)

Looking around, amongst the scattered heard, looking... Searching... For that one perfect companion. Walking, searching... A quick glimpse spotted amongst the it's kin! Approaching, all the curious equine allow passage, though not without insisting on some attention first. There it is. A beautiful black boy with a heart of gold- your dream color, not pure black- sporting white socks and a white blaze and an attractive light brown that only shows in the right light... But that doesn't matter, you see him, and he sees you. A gentle nuzzle, a loving caress... It's love at first sight. However it's not fair to the rest of the herd to not keep searching. Under pretense, the search continues. But your hearts are set on each other. And so, he follows you. Silently waiting for your will to cave, and for you to finally agree to make him yours. Several later, he's still there, following you, nuzzling your elbow. No other one has taken such an interest. Finally, giving into your desire, you agree. He is the one you want. Half an hour you've known him, and already he holds a permanent place in your heart. You ask his name...

Drake (Named after a specific sea monster)

Born from an abandoned egg in the deepest and darkest pit of the sea, Drake was frail and alone. His glowing fins helped his weak eyes see in the darkness he scavenged for food. Not long after he finally grew more adept at swimming the sea grew turbulent, the sandy dark earth of the trench began to shake. Powerful jets of water burst through the sea floor, one caught the hatching and violently propelled him up.
He lost consciousness as the torrent hurtled him and a few other unlucky sea creatures towards the surface. The most he can recall of the incident was floating on his back rib cage throbbing, a fuzzy pain engulfing his body in waves steady as the tide, four or five strange two legged creatures speaking in a strange and panicked language
"Another eruption! We need to do something about this soon, we can't let anymore innocent creatures get hurt Thariel!"
"Stay focused! We have to take care of this little guy first! If we don't get him help soon he won't make it Cocoa."
The strange beasts grew blurry, all drake could see was the navy blue sky doted with twinkling gold jewels. They seemed to move and shift, taking the shape of two older Kelpari with horns protruding from their heads. The male bucked back and kicked at the air, the female pawed at the space beneath her. Their strong gaze never left him as everything faded to black. Cocoa and Thariel never could figure out why he spent every night of (and after) his long recovery staring at the sky.

Above hovers Tiondre, restlessly seeking his lost mate Chandra. She was the sparkle of his heart, the twinkle in his eye, the magic calling forth his soul. He sparkles in memory of her and her thieves, in the hopes that those he meets might also recall her and direct him in her direction. They last danced together beneath the northern starry skies, which found the pair so heartrendingly beautiful, so much more beautiful than themselves, that they stole away his Chandra and left Tiondre painted with their colors, so he would forever remember, regret, and roam.

Odis the Lost

Long ago, a young man called Odis set out to find the fabled stargaze caverns that were supposedly filled with magical treasures left by a long dead sea queen. His travels took him out to the furthest reaches of the ocean where he got caught in a violent thunderstorm. Odis was thrown from his boat and as he sank below the waves and was about to drown, he was rescued by a beautiful siren. She took Odis to a nearby cave and healed his wounds with her song. As he looked around the cave, he saw that it was filled with wondrous treasures and magical tomes, and then he realized that these were the stargaze caverns. The siren warned him not to steal anything, but he ignored her. Odis rebuilt his boat, and while the siren was sleeping, he took away with him a golden trident as he went back out onto the water.

The next morning, a giant sea serpent came and attacked his boat. He defeated the beast with the golden trident, but as he did so, felt something strange down his hair and along his back. Suddenly a pair of luminous wings had sprouted as well as a series of fins on his head and down his spine. On the second day, the sea serpent returned and attacked Odis's boat, and again, he fended it off, but this time, his legs gave way to a serpentine body. He walked about on his hands as his tail uselessly flopped about. The serpent returned again on the third day, and the man was still able to fend it off with some difficulty, but this time, his hands were transformed into hooves, and he could no longer wield the golden trident. When the serpent returned on the fourth day, it tore his boat apart, and he sunk below the waves once again. The serpent transformed back into the siren, who retrieved her golden trident and went back to her cave.

Odis can still be seen to this day as he silently glides through the ocean depths...

Lampsi of the Beacon

Deep in the sea many creatures lay hidden amongst the darkness of the mysterious sea floor. Though there are still many untouchable territories yet to be seen; technology has managed to let us venture far enough to see a new evolution...Kelpari. In particular this Glow Fish Kelpari which we have nicknamed Lampsi (Greek for Glow) who we found about a mile before we ran into other breeds of Kelpari (Almost as though he was waiting for us). Little is known on how this majestic creature got into such depths or even how it can glow, but sylestian scientists have managed to draw some ideas.

(Head Sylestian Scientist Edgar Van)
"As timed moved forward the world started to change...more to say people came and started to take over. Yes we were creating such an ugly marks on what used to be a beautiful sight of land though we see fit to do what we need to in order to survive. Some creatures saw what we couldn't see...the future of what is to come of our actions (Ruined Environment) and therefore they chose to leave. We believe the Kelpari were one of these species. We have found evidence in fossils that they used to walk on land more like a Qitari, but now rediscovered we see they now only possess two legs...this is due to what we believe was adaption after many years of living in the deep watery depths. Though there was another trait to them that had us stumped...Wings. It seems that the Kelpari knew one day they would be found and be brought back to the surface where the once lived. Perhaps they knew they would need these wings to move as freely on land as the once did before.

Still so many questions come up such as why does Lampsi glow? Or how many different breeds of Kelpari are there in the hidden sea? All we can do is guess. Though if you ask me I feel as though Lampsi and his breed are just the beacons drawing us to the newly evolved species. Yes I believe that his role was to wait for us as a welcoming friend. To show us that this intelligent species is ready to teach us what they have learned and to show us what we have been missing to see in the world we have claimed as our own. I do not know of how long he has been waiting nor how many generations have been there waiting before him. All I can say is I am grateful of his patients for us and now seeing him today roaming our lab for more study he seems...how to say relieved as though his task has finally been finished."

(Sorry for the length and yeah I know it really isn't talking directly about this Kelpari but I figured its something different and possibly interesting I'm unsure. I don't write really..,)
*Edit* Sorry it cut out the A in his name o.o guessing cause it had a symbol over it xD
