Holy moly. I just went through and released a good chunk of my own pets.
I've still got quite a few, ngl, but they're either exclusive pets, pets I have plans for or pets I worked really hard to get. I'll admit a small part of me cringed the first few times I released them -the bulk of my pets are themes from last WinterFest- but I definitely feel a little better after yesterday. Not to mention a little lighter because of the extra stable space.
I'd also like to correct my release count. The 106 was Nixies alone. The accurate total is 568 pets released, including my little release spree a few minutes ago.

I just wanted to say that you're application put into words so well what I think is the biggest problem on this site. It's so annoying that the market is so full of off-grey pets with random pets that people have bred just to try and sell for 10gp each and I can basically never get sales on my projects that take months to breed and get perfect.

Thoughts on releasing: 100% necessary. I'm just back from a few year break from the game and I remember my reason for quitting was influenced by the fact I was angry at the state of the game. I used to get pretty angry every time I'd go into someones hatchery and find like 20+ pages of grey-ish gross looking Sylesti's.(Often for sale for ridiculously low amounts of gold) I kept trying to campaign a little bit for releasing events or some sort of reward of incentives for releasing such as the systems from Flight Rising and Wajas, I'm not sure if there's been any events but I'm sad that there's still no incentives.
Amount of pets released: 317 so far
