TOP 3
"Spotify"Challenge
Welcome one and all to another edition of D.C.U. "Top 3". Tonight prove to be rather hard one the voting process as there were a number of wonderful and brilliantly thought out designs. It is a lot harder to work with spots then a number of people do realize, and I thank each and everyone of you whom proved that idea wrong. You proved that spots can be just as beautiful as anything else out there. But just as a reminder to one and all. If you are not in the TOP 3 this week, don't be alarmed or saddened. There is always next week. Stand strong and try try try again. For now though, please help me congratulate this week's TOP 3!
(Please remember to collect on any and all prizes before deadline next week, or they will be forfeit.)
1st PLACE ~
Limor's Design:
(Seaside Song)
@Limor...You my dear presented a lot of really good designs this week. You really stepped up your game a good bit, but I think your Puff piece stood out above all others that you brought to the table. The gentle green tones mixed with the soft yellows blend well together. Your trait choices were spot on with this design as well. I really liked the elegance of it, and the idealistic flow. You have a real good design talent, and you have proved yourself time in and time out again. For your hard work, if you would be so kind as to send me a COD for 25K, that would be great. Also keep an eye out in your inventory for something a little extra coming your way. If you wish for a pet from one of my GROUP tabs in my stable, please let me know and it will be yours.
2nd PLACE ~
Spiritbeast's Design:
(The Elder Dragon)
@Spiritbeast...I really enjoyed your design this week. It is true, that if dragons were real, that the elder dragon would be the most developed, and would have a hoard of jewels and coin. I think your design represents that well, even if that isn't what you were trying for. I think your design was amazing, and had an excellent blend of various shades of brown and white. Not many can pull of the color brown to the point it flows naturally as you have done. The blue of the jewels was a nice touch as well. Please do keep up the amazing job that you do. For now, please send me a COD of 18K.
3rd PLACE ~ Eyelashviper's Design:
(Spots in the Stormcloud)
@Eyelashviper....I very much enjoyed how you bounced back from your critique. I can see the green working, but the idea to swap it out for purple on the traits really made the design over all pop. I chose your altered piece over your original, because honestly I do like it so much more. I think you did an amazing job this week, given that you only had a very very short time to do all that you did since joining. Please do keep up the amazing job, and we look forward to seeing what more you have to bring to the table here in the D.C.U.

"Night At The Carnival" Challenge
Created By: Koterfaye!!!
With this challenge, you will need to create a pet and/or avi design based on something to do with a carnival, whether it is the food, games, rides, themed attractions, and/or the carnies themselves. My suggestion would be to pick something you enjoyed at one point or another if you have ever been to a carnival. If you haven't, pick something you would like to maybe experience. Either way, I wish you all luck and remember...Make sure to follow the requirements listed for you below for this challenge if you want to be considered eligible for possible placement in the TOP 3, as well as for any prizes that are handed out!
(All prizes need to be claimed by the next deadline, or them become forfeit.)
~CHALLENGE REQUIREMENTS~
1.) You must provide a reference picture for your design that is carnival themed (yes it does have to be an actual carnival-themed image). Your design does not need to be exact spitting image, just a visual of what you are trying to convey for that design. However, yes...each design must have one.
2.) You will need to provide a description regardless of how big or small that gives us an idea of what you are attempting to get across to us the viewer with each of your designs.
3.) All designs should there be multiples, as well as all reference pictures and descriptions should be kept to 1 post only.
4.) You can only use 1 gender per design that you make.
~RULES/GUIDELINES~
1.) All core group rules are in affect/effect.
2.) Remember to ask for help if you need assistance and/or clarification.
~EXAMPLE~
(No you don't need to do this many, but the more the merrier!)
Bearded Lady
Below is the image of my avi design based on the traditional carnival sideshow phenomenon known as the Bearded Lady. She has been seen by many through the years, and has been performed by many "Real" bearded ladies as well as imposters. What a bearded lady is, is a woman dressed as she saw most comfortable that was also sporting a man's full beard(facial hair).
Onion Bloom
Below is the image of my pet design based of the various colors and caramelization of the delicious Onion Bloom you can find at carnival food vendors.
Starship 3000
Below is the image of my pet design that interprets one of my favorite carnival rides. The Starship 3000. When inside, you lean back against the wall and bring the over the shoulders security bar down with your head in between. You will be facing all of the other riders as they do you as well. The ride operator usually is with in the center, where they tell you to remain still and do not attempt to move. Not that you really can when the ride is in motion. The ride spins so face that you are literally plastered to the wall and it takes great amounts of strength just to lift your arm or move at all. It feels like you are being forced back into the wall by an unseen force and you don't realize how much pressure that is until after the ride when it finally releases it's grip on you and you feel like you can breath again. It is exciting as all get out!!! I have ridden it many many times. There is of course the trash bins at the exits for those with weak stomachs whom unfortunately end up losing their lunches after said ride.
(Yes I know they are a bit plain so to speak, but I think it does the ride justice.)

-- Clown Carnie --
The first intimidate thing I think of when I think Carnival is "Clown". I have a strange fascination with clowns, and the main type of clown that comes to mind is the stereotypical type of clown, the whole scary vibe and everything.
-- Ring of Fire --
The ring of fire, although an intimidating ride, is honestly fun. I love the adrenaline rush and (common at cheaper carnivals) having to hold yourself up too not hit the roof of the ride due to loose seating. It's fun, scary, and one of my alltime favorites.
-- Lion Tamer --
Another staple of the carnival is the lion tamer. Lion tamers have the job of taming the lion and getting them to create and preform great acts. The goal of the true lion tamer is to have a true relationship with the lion and know how to work with the lion and not having to use brute force to manipulate the lions actions.
-- Carousel --
When I think carnival rides, I think carousel. It's a common placement in most carnivals and amusement parks and is thought of as the child ride, due to its colorful horses (or other animals on fancier ones!) and cheerful music.
-- Churro --
A delicious sweet treat, commonly found at amusement parks and carnivals. Covered in cinnamon and sugar (and powdered sugar in some places!) a delicacy of the carnival foods.

Cotton Candy
When I think of a carnival, I think of cotton candy! I personally love cotton candy, but it is sometimes at carnivals so thats why I chose it.
Tiger
Well, sometimes at a carnival there are not lions, but tigers doing tricks. I have never been to a carnival, but if I did and there were tigers doing tricks, I would be terrified because they are bigger than lions....

funnel cake ferrikki
funnel cakes are easily the best carnival/fair food there is, and you cannot change my mind about that. although i wouldn't eat it with strawberries and whipped cream (i don't like either of those), the powdered sugar on a hot and tasty cake is the best thing in the world. i worship funnel cakes
carnival lights sylvorpa
because there's nothing prettier than watching the lights blink on and off at night, like fireflies :)

I couldn't find a singular picture that I liked or any moodboards that I liked, so I made my own moodboard. It's based around the colors pink and yellow because not only do I associate those colors with carnivals, but they also go very well together imo.

I thoroughly love what you have submitted this far Limor. You actually picked some things I didn't even think of. Way to go.
The only thing I need for you to do now, is to reduce your design submissions to 1 gender a piece. It can be a mixture of male and female. But only 1 pet design gender per carnival design hon. This is going to be a tough one, because I think both are beautiful for each. Alas it is a requirement though.

You are correct about the lions vs tigers aspect. It all really depends on the carnivals as not all are the same. Very nice touch indeed.
The only thing is that you missed the requirement for using only 1 gender per carnival design. Please reduce each design submission to 1. So 1 tiger, and 1 cotton candy. Pick the one that you think is best!

You are completely correct about the funnel cakes. Where I am originally from, they called them Elephant Ears because they were so darn HUGE. But so so very tasty. And your comment about the lights. That was an elegant way of putting it. I can see that, or as if someone was having the time of their life in the stars even.
However, the only thing is that you need to reduce each of your designs down to 1 gender. I can be either male for one and female for the other doesn't matter your choice there. However it is a requirement that a number of you missed out on. That is ok though. There is still plenty of time to correct it before deadline!
