As long as someone can pay it back eventually, something like this is fine. We may limit how many people can though. I'll probably limit it to my own personal supply because mine won't ever need to be taken from the bank pretty much ever since I bought them for this reason specifically.
The reason why the Eggling Auctions are restricted is because those can be extremely competitive.
If everyone were to take out loans for one of those, while some would be paid back almost instantly, it would be unfair to those who couldn't and with enough, we could potentially break the bank even at its most stable.
It's mostly a preventative feature to keep people from destroying us unintentionally in one landslide because they want something so badly.

Carrotbae sent me a private message and initiated a trade, so she tackled me so to speak. However, I just realised that despite reading about sending or receiving mushrooms as a way of depositing and withdrawing, I'm not entirely sure how that works. I fee rather... like a dunce.

Was there supposed to be a price attached to the mushroom? I'm uncertain whether to hit accept because there was no price. Or when I hit accept, does it open up a dialogue box where I can enter a counter offer/trade (IE my deposit) for it? I have never actually traded with another player, only received 'trades' from missions and the like.

Yes there was supposed to be a price attached to the mushroom.
When a user asks to make a deposit, their accountant sends them a mushroom with the amount that the user wanted to deposit as a CoD(Cost of Delivery).
When a user asks to make a withdrawal, the opposite happens. You send your accountant a mushroom with the CoD of the amount you want to withdraw.
The prices are already there, set by the person sending it. c:

Either carrot didn't realize that she didn't attach your first deposit or she may also have been confused about the whole thing.
Staff are supposed to Forward me any Pms they send out/receive(unless the PM only requests a deposit/withdrawal and its amount, then the sendout only is just fine) so I had no idea whether or not she had gotten to you because that initial exchange wasn't forwarded to me.

Well, I'll just return the Mushroom, then. Beyond that, there is little I can do about miscommunication (it happens). Heck, perhaps the weird database thing messed things up. Oh, I hope that didn't effect your accounts any!
