Gemstone Of Choice
Jade
Reasoning
I chose this gem because 1) I love it's beautiful, dark green shades, and 2) it holds significant meaning in many cultures around the world.
Beliefs
Jade is the stone given in celebration of the 12th, 30th, and 35th anniversaries of marriage. For thousands of years, the stone has been revered in China and other countries throughout the world. The Chinese, Mayas, Aztecs, and the Maoris of New Zealand have long prized the stone for its use in jewelry, and in carvings of sacred religious figures. Before there were written records of jade, it was used for axe heads, spear points, daggers, and sacred knives in pagan religious ceremonies. From the earliest days of jade's history, it has been the most favored gem among the Chinese. There are collections of jade with Chinese carvings, dating back to 2000 BC in museums throughout the world. These include carvings of meaningful shapes such as fish, birds, bats and dragons. Jade was used extensively in daily and ceremonial objects of Chinese nobility and represented high rank and authority. Jade amulets were actually buried with the dead in China. The Spanish conquistadores adopted the use of jade when they invaded Central America. They often wore amulets made from the stone. Jade was also used by Ancient South American cultures in ornamental objects and as axe heads. The ancient Mexican hieroglyph for precious stones actually refers primarily to jade. Maori tribes in New Zealand made their legendary war clubs and ceremonial carvings out of jade. The Spanish conquistadores called jade piedra de hijada (loin stone) or piedra de los rinones (kidney stone), believing it prevented or cured ailments in those areas.
The Chinese believed that since jade objects lasted so long, they were linked to immortality. They believe jade to also bring good luck, benevolence, purity, and enhanced intelligence. In the West, jade is thought to be a stone that can help the wearer be more relaxed and calm. Overall, jade has always been said to bring its owner power, knowledge, pure thoughts and long life. There are many beliefs in jade's healing influences- especially in healing ailments of the eyes, nervous system, and organs, especially the kidneys. It used to be worn in amulets over the kidney area, as well as on the arm.

I chose the snowflake obsidian.
Reasoning: As a practicing Wiccan, gemstones are a key part of my practice. I personally refuse to leave home without my snowflake obsidian as it is a form of protection.
Magical Properties: Obsidian is a very protective stone. It is also associated with the inner mysteries of the Goddess, symbolizing entrance to the labyrinth, the womb or the subconscious self.

i am so sorry about picture sizes, they are humongous carnelian why: because the colors are cool (i love red-oranges, especially the way carnelian has both muted and bright shades), and because it reminds me of one of my favorite book characters (she wasn't in the book for very long because she died but i found her personality very relatable, even though she is an extremely *cough* minor character i love her)
superstition: carnelian is believed to give the wearer a contented mind. if it is worn in a silver ring, it is said to grant many friends and prevent loss and harm
aura amethyst why: i came across this type of amethyst and was like "wow it's so pretty i've never heard of it before." and i just thought it would be a challenge to incorporate as many of those colors as i could into one design and still make it work. so many pretty colors *drool*
superstition (amethyst, as this is a type of amethyst): amethyst has various metaphysical beliefs attached to it, from helping to boost positive moods and removing the negative ones such as fear and anxiety, to medieval european soldiers wearing it as protection in battle due to belief that the amethyst protects from harm and keeps one levelheaded
black moonstone why: black moonstone has always been one of my favorite gemstones, because i find it very attractive and have always found its metaphysical properties very interesting, due to being an emotional person myself. moonstone is also a significant stone of a character in a book series i like, as she wears a necklace with a piece of moonstone on it
superstition: black moonstone is said to help one connect with their feelings and emotions on a very profound level and helping to heal from past emotional trauma. it is a stone for feeling and emotional understanding

I have added you to the "Entries Thus Far" post due to the fact you stated what kind of gem it was in the description of beliefs. It should also be stated by itself so others whom don't know or won't read your description know what your gem is.

I love your designs hon, but they go against requirement number 4. Your design is too small in a sense hon. You need to make your images 250 in the size modifier area to qualify. I am sorry, but you still have time to make that chance though.

If you are being PINGed here, that means you have been a design for this challenge but have not yet completed it. I am PINGing you as a remember to finish your designs if you want them to be eligible. They must meet all the requirements for said challenge.
@Poeticthoughts....You don't have an explanation as to why you chose the gemstone you did. It is needed and required to be eligible.
@Sakura...You don't have your explanation to any of your stones but the first one, nor any reasons why you chose those additional stones. Without that information they will not be eligible for the challenge. And remember you shouldn't post anything you don't intend on using. If you are not going to use them, please remove them from your design post.
Once you both have finished off your designs, please let me know so I can again review and see if I can add them to an "Entries Thus Far" post for eligibility for possible placement.

If you are being PINGed her it is because we still have not seen you submit a design for this mandatory challenge as of yet. That is ok...You still have time to submit at least 1 design. I look forward to seeing what you bring to the table, but just make sure you be mindful of the deadline this coming Sunday at 5pm CST!
