(Aha, I'd thought I'd forgotten something. Sorry! Well, now the most obvious course of action is to pin the blame on a character >:P)
Evidently the landlady wasn't interested in making your life easier by giving you time to grab your things first. The other staff didn't get in your way as you trudged by them.
You wake up in the morning to crisp sunlight beaming through the small yet clean window panes in the corner of the room.
You have some aching muscles from your draining work the evening before, but nothing major.
It's a brand new day. What's first on your to-do list?

I put on my travel pack and walk over to the aeries to pick up Brazentalons.

(Hullo! c: Thank you, nice to be back :P
Okay, time to zip over to this place)
Skywhisper circles around on the outskirts of the sprawling grassland city, eyes sharp as he sizes the place up. "Lots people coming and going," he says. "Just think of how much trade comes through this place every day."
Indeed, the Adventurer's Crossroads is the best place for traders to come to. It's smack in the centre of Anaia and its far-reaching Adventurer's Roads that allow people from all four corners of the land to travel straight to it. There are plenty of favours and gold to be earnt and made in this wealthy city.

(Hi!
Oof, things were not going so well '~' Well, let's see where about we can take this)
The ground is covered in snow and your goblin kidnappers are likely to find your trail at some point whenever they realise you've escaped. Thankfully, you'll have until morning for that to happen. The negative side of it is that it's night, and it's cold. The fire magic in your blood is keeping you going for now, though.
Snow surrounding you and goblins at your back, your companion Balthur and familiar Knight nowhere in sight, what do you do now?

Brazentalons is waiting to greet you as you approach the great Elven aeries. The day is sunny but chillingly cold, and you can just see your breath beginning to crystallise in front of you.

"Hey," I say and stroke his head feathers. "You got a good night's sleep? We're going to the library today." I take out my thick itchy blanket and wrap it around me as we walk to the nearest library to find out more about the ring.

Well he does what any normal perosn does. He walks eaat. Because when in doubt, go back to your roots and restart.
And hey, with lick he'll pass right by the central territory. Hes pretty sure Balthur and Knight would have to head there again at some point.
(This giy doenst think about how he cna probably find a way to reach out and use his bonding to familiar xD)
(Thank you verily much, for both your backstory and reminding me of several important story-things ^.^)
The two hellhounds yip, nodding seriously.
You walk by the houses of Flintswood, one every once in a while decorated cheerily for Chillfest celebrations. You and your companions make your way further up the foothills the town is built upon.
A good while since you turned at the junction, you all come around a bend to the sight of a large, darkened mansion. It is very definitely not decorated for the season's festivities, instead looking as if it has been crying for maintenance for quite some time.
Numbat takes one look at the decrepit house and makes a disapproving noise. "Manor is cursed, simple as that," he says with a grimace. "Not looking forward to this."
"Have heart Numbat this may not be as bad as it seems and if worse comes to worse there are other jobs we can do," Asteria says reassuringly. Truth be told though she disliked this place as well, "Crimson, Emberpaw can you smell anything out of the ordinary? Sunfeather, Blazetalon would you two mind terribly taking a look around from the air (fly where I can see you) just to scout out the area? Shootingstar stay with us and keep your ears and eyes open please. Your senses are better than mine so if you sense anything would you please alert us?"
She hoped that this plan would help protect the group. Looking around Asteria tries to look for any possible traps, escape routes, doors, windows, anything that could possibly threaten or be used to protect thr group.

Character Background
Meriah has lived her entire life with the Silvermane herd, they are her family and she would do anything for them. A week ago she discovered that her element was water, and suddenly became the odd one out since most of the herd had earth or fire, there were some air but she was the only water user.
I'd like to change her personality a bit if that's ok. Here's the new one: She is kind, but not necessarily lawful and other races might view her as a wild or chaotic spirit. Shes rarely aggressive though, and would rather befriend than fight. The exception to her wildness is her dedication to her herd members and always staying calm and respectful around elders.
Many of the nomadic centaur herds still hold to their age-old tradition of the trial of adulthood. When a centaur discovers their magic they are given a test where each of their skills are put into practice. Failing means being cast out - not impossible to survive but quite a harsh path to be forced onto.
Meriah has been given a much more difficult task than usual, locating the lost son of the herd leader who left years ago. She has 30 days to find Theillar, a centaur with a silvery-green mane and purple-ish tips
Progress
Still on the first day of her timeframe, Meriah arrived in the city of Thatchburg and talked to a few of the exotic merchants to see if anyone knew where a wandering centaur might travel to. She didn't find any useful information, but the surly merchant from the West got robbed. Meriah offered to find whatever was stolen and he said it was a golden ring with runes. He didn't seem to think she'd have much chance and told her to find him on the western adventurer's road if she found it.
(I can send you the entire conversation if you want more details)

"The aeiries wouldn't be famed throughout Anaia if they didn't give you a good night's rest, after all," Brazentalons nods as he speaks, following you to the closest library.
The streets you pass through on your search are decorated heavily for Chillfest. There isn't a direction you can pick without being able to see colourful banners, a group of carol singers going door to door or bright tapestries hung between buildings over the cobbled streets of the elven capital.
There are many libraries in Elvenor, and the name inscribed on the sign above the doorway of the first library you find is 'The Scholar's Corner'. You can see many books piled on shelves through the dusty windows.
"Hopefully this one has the sort of books we're looking for," Brazentalons comments, shaking his fluffed up feathers in the frosty morning.
