The woman gives you a great big smile. "At this time of year, I'm feeling generous," she exclaims. "I'll give you two of my best, most sought-for loaves for the pitiful sum of 8 gold coins. What do you say to that?"
Brazentalons rolls his eyes, an amused look on his features.
I try to see if I can make her lower the price.
"Hmmmm." I frown while I move the gold within the pouch thoughtfully. "I don't know...That's practically all the gold I have on hand. Seems a bit too expensive," I say and turn to Brazentalons, "doesn't it? I think we should move on to the other stalls, maybe they'll have a better price."
(Alrighty, I'll change the temperament now.
Got your PM. Also, I have a copy of the original In-Character Short/Backstory you originally sent me. Do you want me to send you it back so you've got it?)
There are only a handful of inns in Thatchburg, not that you'd expect so few in a decent trading town such as this. However, clan conflicts and disputes between those that reign over the Centaur city keep inn numbers low and inn size high. How big the clan-owned inns are built easily makes up for their small numbers.
The first inn you come across that suits your needs is 'The Broken Beer-Barrel'. 'Very difficult to say, but very easy to stay!' is the motto that is written underneath the lengthy sign that bears its name. It doesn't look like a quiet inn, what with its tavern on the ground floor letting the sounds of loud, bawling song loose from its wide-open doors; on the other hand you can't see too much conflict going on around it at first glance, and it looks fairly well kept.
Thatchburg is fairly consistent. That's why you can be safe in saying that there isn't a shadier part of the place - it's just Thatchburg, which means clan conflict, thievery and respectively a lot of coin to be made, making trading there worth the risk. It's hard to tell where honest yet ambitious traders' markets end, and where the stolen and contraband goods' markets begin.
(What time of day is it?)
The inn seemed as good a place as any to start. Hopefully there'd be some decent gossip, and earning a few coins for basic purchases would be a welcome relief. She pushed open the door an scanned the room, walking over to whoever seemed to be the proprietor.

(No worries, sorry for not realising ^.^)
You enter the winter clothing shop, the door ringing a little bell above you. A woman stands at the counter and greets you with a smile.
"Take a look around and ask me if you need anything," she says warmly. "I don't close for a few hours yet."
There are a couple of other customers in the shop with you, who look up at the sound of the bell before going back to their own business.

(I should have been more clear thank you though)
"Thank you," Asteria says as she looks for a warm coat, gloves, snow shoes, and anything else she might possibly need for the mountains.
She glances over at Numbat, "What do you think we might need?"
(I have no clue what I need when it comes to mountain gear.)

The orc's eyes narrow, but he doesn't ask any questions as he scuffs snow over the ashes of the fire. He looks to the sky, getting his bearings, before promptly setting off north without checking that you're following. "Much distance to walk, little elf. The snowclouds rush all adventurers, even you."
You both head northwards across the desolate snowed-over grasslands. Your breath clouds in front of you in the cold, and again your fire magic keeps you alive in the freezing wastelands.
After some time walking, a line forms in the distance, stretching all the way from the western horizon to the eastern one.
"Ah!" the orc exclaims, quickening his pace. "I had thought 'Road further than this. No more walking on snow, eh?"
You feel hungry

(ohmegod, I'm not the only person who haggles :o
Right enough, you're technically a charisma level short of being able to haggle, but I'm not going to discourage you)
Brazentalons bodges a serious nod as the stall owner raises an eyebrow.
"Oh? I've been working for a long while today, poppet," the woman straightens her ridiculously coloured apron. "Well, Chillfest is the season of generosity, after all," she admits, caving in. She carries on: "I might be able to cope with a coin or two fewer... name your price."

(Oof... uhm, I'm pretty sure that it's still morning-y-ish. But I honestly struggle to remember)
As always, inns pass just as much coin as they do information in towns and cities. Centaurs, a dwarf or two and a scattering of elves appear to be the patrons for today, and a few look up to meet your gaze warily before going back to their business.
A band half-heartedly plays on a meager stage at the other end of the room, just finishing one of their songs. A few cheers and claps are sent their way, alongwith a handful of tossed coins.
In the corner of the space, a few tables have been set up with a few tabletop games locally played in the central territories, as well as a few foreign looking ones that must be from the other lands. Players and spectators place wagers as you watch.
The owner of this inn, or at least the representative of whichever clan these grounds belong to, becomes apparent. A female centaur sits at a table in a shady corner of the room, spaced a distance away from the customers. A heavily armed orc stands on her left, while another centaur stands on her right. Clearly bodyguards, the former has kept an eye on you from the instant you stepped through her master's door.
You approach the gathering in the corner of the room and afford yourself the wary glances of all three of those at the table. "What can I do for you?" the female centaur asks boredly.

(Alrighty, don't worry 'bout it
For simplicity, I'll just keep the list of what you'll need pretty short)
The woman's expression flickers as she notices that there's a goblin in her shop, but she keeps the smile on her face.
There are definitely coats, gloves and wintry shoes around. There are also hats and other bits and bobs that won't be necessary to deal with the mountains.
"For the mountains, we're going to need warm clothing," Numbat screws up his face in thought. "I think thick jackets will be enough. You might want winter boots, but we don't absolutely need all that."

Asteria grabs two coats one for each of them and two pairs of winter boots, "All right then let's buy the supplies and go."
