Reaching the city gates, you can see that there isn't too big a queue filtering past the guards there. Not many people are travelling at this time of year.

"Flying it is then," I say. I wait in line, excited and restless to get back on the road and getting some answers. Even though it seemed unlikely that there would be many dwarves willing to talk about the rings it seemed better to be at Adventurer's Crossroads then stuck here.

Crimson shivers. "I would not want to fall off a precipe because I couldn't see where I was going."

Shootingstar flicks his wings in a sort of shrug.

The next shop along has tools and weapons in the window. Crimson presses her snout against the glass, peering in. "There is a bendy stick with a string on it in there," she reports.

The covering on the cart has been ripped off, torn to pieces where it remains half-tied. The elements have gotten in to whatever was left in the wagon, which isn't much. A couple of overturned barrels and bags litter its floor, which you can identify now that your orc companion has scooped the obscuring layer of snow away. As he continues to clear it, you realise that there are cracks in the bottom of the cart which have allowed some of its contents to fall through onto the ground.

On further investigation, amongst the damaged goods which evaded the notice of the cart's raiders, there is a small travel pack. Pulling it out from underneath the wagon and checking its contents, you can recognise your belongings inside - untouched.

Many people travel through the Adventurer's Crossroads, and so does knowledge and rumours from all corners of Anaia. If you're going to find out anything about the ring, it's likely to be there.

The line slowly filters through the gates until it's you and Brazentalons' turn. A guard raises a hand for you both to halt and approaches you.

"Apologies, ma'am," she says, now turning her hand so her palm faces the sky, fingers outstretched. "There have been a series of robberies over the Chillfest period in Elvenor. We have to look through everyone's belongings trying to leave the city until we catch the thief."

Well its not like he needs a lot of extra food, after all he haa his tins of stuff back. He leaves msot of the other stuff he has (the food things msotly( in the cart.

"Is it raiding if youre raiding your own cart?" He wonders aloud. Guess now he has a new mission: find a centaur and familiar. Fun times.

You discard the 4 Food Things and Dull Dagger and keep Chillfest Present

The orc chuckles. "Depends who is asked. This yours?" he shakes snow from his hands with a disgusted expression. "Rough. No wonder you wandering around in snow, nothing left here but what you found."

He circles the cart, looking at the destruction. "My clan around here. Probably was them. Must have done it after they cast me out, though. I not seen you before." He then scrunches up his brow in thought. "If my clan attack you... they would steal you. That is what they do. Then how you be here..?"

"I mean i jsut got out of getting rudely kidnapped. Dont even know why your clan would want the rogue elf unless theyre trying to get leverage with the elves, in which case that is....really the dumbest thing they coulsve done." Nicote chucklwd at the thought of them tryung to use him as a hostage when he wasnt exactly welcome at home. "Wonder if they had need for my familiar though....or my travwling companion...."

"That would most likely be a bow Crimson," Asteria responds walking in if the shop was open and looking at the bow. She checks to make sure the bow is not warped and that the string is not frayed. If there are arrows for sale she also looks at those making sure they are straight and the fletchings are not bent.

(Yes I know what I'm doing when it comes to bows and arrows plus it's in Asteria's backstory)

"Oh, it's not a problem," I say and hand over my travel pack. "Just be careful with that ring, I don't know for sure what it does, but its side effects aren't all entirely good."

"Steal anyone, they do, without care" the orc shrugs. "Find out soon enough if useful for bargaining. If not, southern arenas always needing new contestants." His gaze falls to his feet at that. After a minute, he looks up again. "You have friends? Won't for much longer, when they taken to Boulder. What you plan?"
