How is q u e e r a bad word? It's used for so much more than judging us LGBTQ!

Cool! I'll see how much it bothers me for the rest of the day before acting on it. XD

I have a bit of advice, if youre still looking for some! Im a demigirl, so I change between female and non-binary. The first is just for the writing part. It does not necessarily change on a day to day basis. It could I suppose, but it could honestly change whenever. As for introducing it, I have a few ideas. You could, have some new character see them as the wrong gender (male when theyre female or vice versa) and have them correct said character over and over again as they continuously get the gender wrong as it changes, you could have on character explain it to another new character as well. As for the shifts in gender, its easiest to just have your main human announce to their friends when they change. Sorry if this wasnt helpful. -_-

So, I'm writing a character more in the genderweird area of the spectrum.. (along with a bunch of agender aliens..) and for this character, I honestly personally just alternate their pronouns between she and he in each new scene that she appears in and the characters in the setting refer to her either by her presenting appearance in that moment, name, or how they perceive her.
May not be the best way to write her, but it's the way I like to write her that I find the least confusing to both me and the reader and it makes sense with her species' culture in that they draw and have no biological or cultural line between genders. Her species is also very reclusive and rightfully would show a lot of confusion when offered the question "what are you, how do you identify" to which she is always going to identify "I am me" and give her name.

Rick Riordan introduced a gwnderfljid character (plus other lgbtq+ haracters) in his Magnus Chase series
I often find seeing what other successful writers do works, and so maybe check out Hammet of Thor by Rick Riordan, that might help?

We talked about doing it like Alex Fierro, but decided we wanted to try something a bit different.

Those are some good ideas. We actually decided it might be easier if he went by they/them. But I'm starting to think that fits more with nonbinary people. Thoughts?
