(Aha. *Remains politely and tactfully silent* ^.^)

The orc's eyes widen. "So your story to Onyx Moon was based off truth?" he waves his hand. "Sorry, I not ask about it. Okay. So you give me story, I stick to. I not so good at making stories - telling them, I manage. What we telling to them then?" he gestures with a thumb to the brawling guards in the distance.

Nicote thoguth, Yeah, from a fictional book more like, but didnt say it. "Youre an orc and Im a wandering elf. Either we say we're traveling through to see the sights or we can go with being on some kidn of quest. I can easily give one out, i have a good reason for that one." Nicote grimaced at that thought.

(Honestly. That - *cough* - CRACKS me up.
...
Oh come on, I had to)

Skywhisper shrugs. "There are egg-care facilities in Elvenor. There might be something similar here, but I don't know. I wouldn't know who to trust with the egg in this city."

He mulls over the idea a bit longer. "Depends... if we got a safe place to stay, we could leave her there. I wouldn't want to leave her on her own for too long though."

(... Tentative rofl?)

"Well, I guess that can be our first objective, finding a safe place to stay," I declare after thinking for a few seconds. "Even if we decide not to leave the egg unattended, I'd still figure it would be good for us to have a place to crash here for a bit anyways, right?"

The going's difficult, but you're on the last leg of your long journey. You've had time to build up just enough endurance for the snowy passes. Stamina just successful, +1/2 Stamina proficiency. Additionally, your winter boots keep the layer of snow from giving your feet frostbite.

Everyone on the ground besides Shootingstar is struggling as the steep mountain slope on one side of the mountain road drops away. The sunlight that hits you all gives little warmth, merely blinding you. After a second to adjust, you are confronted by a snow-swept valley.

Shootingstar whinnies excitedly, stretching out his wings and flapping them enthusiastically. As young as he is, they provide him no lift though.

Asteria works on keeping her expression nutral as she feels the sorrow of being left behind by a friend, "Let's keep going. Shootingstar I hope you remember that not all higher creatures are evil and to be careful."

(HAHAHA, why..? Stahp, you're not supposed to think too deeply about the things I say >:P )

The centaur's eyes widen and he splutters: "Who told you about the gra-" They then narrow as he cuts himself off. "Oh, ha-ha. A comedian."

He looks at you warily. Convince - charisma partially successful. He scowls as he takes off the ring. The instant it leaves his finger, it dulls. He sighs like a great weight has just been lifted from his shoulders.

He shoots you another glance before pocketing the ring. "No. It's..." he twitches and you realise he's fighting back a yawn. "It's mine... now. Such powerful magic is only dangerous to the ignorant."

He gives you a pointed glance as Brazentalons turns to you. "Look who's talking," your griffin chirrups.

The centaur again attempts to rise, but demonstrates once more just how much energy the ring has drained from him as he fails. He growls as your familiar looks around with a cautious glance. "The damage is already done. He's not going to survive out here on his own," he murmurs.

"That is true," I say to Brazentalons.

"You can travel with us for a while until you can get back on your feet," I say to the centaur. "Or hooves, in this case. But you're still gonna have to give that ring back and not try to steal it again. You'd probably run into deeper trouble if you do that..."

I try to help him stand up.

The orc matches your grimace. "You not realise how things are?" he asks tentatively. "Other higher creatures only get into Boulder in back of prisoner carts for reason. The Council of Clan Chiefs declare long ago, any but orcs and goblins in southern territories are automatically tresspassing. Penalty of death."

The fight seems to be coming to a close now. The victor is sweeping the floor with his competitor.

He continues: "Just prisoners make it in now. Not even diplomats from other lands bother coming here. So we cannot just wander up saying we here to admire Boulder architecture. At least, you cannot."

( :P )

"Oh yeah, definitely," he agrees. He looks at the sprawling grassland city with a determined look, glancing back at you to ask: "So... where shall we start looking?"

He looks round at you with wide, joy-filled eyes. It doesn't look like it's occurred to him yet that your Paths are soon to part with the anticipation of finding his family again. He nods, though.

The group heads down into the snowy valley, among the frosted trees and into the light mists that obscure it from the skies. The two phoenix are blurred red and orange outlines above, sticking close by the group. Crimson and Emberpaw step gingerly through the snow, moods still dampened by its clinging coldness.

"Stop!" Numbat suddenly hisses, grabbing your arm to keep you still. The hellhounds' ears shoot up, alert instantly. Shootingstar carries on forth, however, speeding up to a bounding trot through the snow.

You realise what has alarmed him as you see where the young creature is heading. In a clearing ahead, bordered by the still pine trees and a tricking stream, stands a fully-grown pegasus. Its wings are spread out imposingly, head held high. Its breath clouds in front of its nostrils as it serenely watches Shootingstar bound towards it.

The centaur glares at the two of you. "I don't know what your bird just told you, but I'm perfectly fit to-" he ends abruptly as he falls, again. "Oh, fine!" he barks. "Fine. I screwed up, I admit it. Take the stupid ring, it's given me nothing but bad luck since I set eyes on it. I give you my word I won't take it again."

Charisma successful, +1/2 charisma proficiency

He tosses the ring at you, huffing with frustration. As soon as it touches you, you can sense its presence. It's not as chilling or disturbing as the last time you picked it up from its resting place, though. Just... there, twinkling in the firelight.

Brazentalons looks indignant at your proposal to the centaur, but the stranger wears a neutral expression. He finally stands with your help, but is shaky on his hooves.

"Is there a branch around I can use to walk?" he asks coldly.

Asteria keeps perfectly still watching Shootingstar calmly. She knew she was going to have to strong for the group even though she was the one who was hurting most. Seeing a fully grown pegasus for the first time was incredible in itself, helping a young one find it's family again even better even if it hurt more. She keeps watching Shootingstar waiting to make sure he's accepted back into the herd.
