Saphira
She is modeled after Saphira the dragon in the book Eragon. She is elegant but fierce and wont stand down in a battle. She is a deep blue with sea green runes covering her body. She is kind and understanding but she doesn't tolerate any sarcasm and is very serious.
Her parents abandoned her when she was just an egg handing her off with a small fee as if she meant nothing. When Saphira learned of this she was hurt but she wouldn't let anything keep her down. She was ambitious and she wanted to become a traveler it was hard but she gathered supplies and one day escaped without anyone realizing she left and ran far through the darkness of night and was guided by the soft light of the moon until she got to the ocean. The sun had just started to rise the soft grey light of dawn making the ocean glow. She swam far and found peace in the soft waves of the ocean.

Apastron
Apastron means the furthest point a star can be from another star in a binary system. He resembles a cloud of stars that appear to be far apart from each other, thus his name. Said to be the night sky of the deep sea, Apastron provides soothing light in the dark depths. Since the deep sea is very removed from the sky, this is another reason for the name.
Apastron is a noble yet apt battlemage, clad in pearl armor said to look like a bright nebula. The armor has unknown origin, but it is said to be a gift from the universe itself. Nonetheless, it offers protection while still allowing fluid movement.

Helicon
Deep in the ocean there was a hidden kingdom full of the most magical creatures one could imagine. Amongst those creatures was one that was somewhat odd to the rest of them. Helicon was a pale color (with her wings as the one exception) where most of the other inhabitants of the kingdom were dark. The thing that most stood out about her though were her wings: the odd shifting pattern was so peculiar and haunting often caused her strife.
One day she was drifting about after her lessons and overheard some of the elders speaking about how odd her appearance was. She was very upset and swam as hard and fast as she could. When she finally stopped she grew determined that she would change the way the elders thought of her and decided to find something or some way that her wings would not be the only thing about her that was noticed.
She traveled far and wide and as she grew her scales grew brighter and tinted to the color of some of the more precious stones and her mane settled into a deep turquoise that would not be unusual in her homeland. Her one disappointment was that the pattern on her wings grew brighter and more pronounced.
In a fit of desperation she swam straight up. It felt like hours or even days but after years of self imposed isolation and the loneliness of someone so different she needed to find an end to all of these problems. As she went higher the water became brighter until even the lightstones that her kingdom lived by couldn't even compare until she finally broke through to the surface.
Her first ever gulp of air was rather unpleasant but she only just noticed. She floated in awe of the sight before her. As she looked up she found the source of the light that had helped her find the way up. Up,up,up was the most beautiful sight she had ever seen. It looked like someone had draped the heavens with her wings! The pattern shifted as she watched as the pattern with her wings had always done. She was finally satisfied with her appearance. The realization that she was not odd just different was the best she had ever felt. She returned to her kingdom happy to be her and determined to share what she had learned. And most importantly to bring them all to the light.

Mystic
Mystic is a rare kind of Kelpari that has the ability to use magic. She comes from a rarely seen group of Kelpari that once upon a time worked with wizards. She is the last of her group though, and has set out into the world to discover, and protect others. Mystic specializes in fire-water magic, which is very unique for a Kelpari, and is already a master at it.

Bloodbath
General of the Varynthian Army
As Varyntha's kingdom grew larger and more powerful, she decided it was time to appoint a loyal leader. Looking over her existing kingdom, she did not find the perfect one. She needed the perfect one. Anything less would be unacceptable. So she decided to search within herself to find her perfect leader. Everything that was within her would shape and form the new creation. She pulled masses of blood and darkness from her soul and molded them into a perfect form. As it uncoiled and flexed, red fluid swirling about it and shadowy fins unfurling, it became a recognizable shape; that of a powerful, strong, and armored Kelpari.
Varyntha looked deep within her new creation and was greatly pleased with all that she saw. He was perfect. She approached him and spoke.
"You, my beautiful Bloodbath, are perfect. You will be my General. My kingdom will look up to you and you will lead them and keep them in order."
He understood and he obeyed and he took out into the kingdom to make and keep order. All those in the kingdom knew when they saw that dark shadow mixed with red spray to not challenge him and to stay out of his way. And if he made a demand, it was followed without question for they knew he was second in command only to Varyntha and punishment for retaliation would be imminent.
And Varyntha would look out over her kingdom and be pleased.

Meet:
(for backstory, read Carrie Vaughn's Voices of Dragons)
As Kay and Artegal landed on the tiny island, she could tell that he was wondering the same thing she was wondering: where is the City of Peace. Then a squadron of 5 dragon-seahorses arose from the waves. The leader introduced herself in accented English as Insalata and escorted them through the waves to the hidden city...

The story: Not much is known about the Picts, who lived in what is now northern Scotland from the Iron Age to the early Middle Ages. They caused the Romans a lot of trouble! However, there aren't many reliable records that explain how they lived.
One of the great mysteries about the Picts is "The Pictish Beast." You see, the Picts liked to make carvings of abstract shapes, animals, and representations of real objects. Some scientists believe these shapes were an actual alphabet. What's weird is that, while the Picts carved obvious images of snakes, fish, wolves, deer, horses, eagles, etc., about 40% of the animals they carved are this creature that, as far as we know, is not and never has been real.
Take a look at an image of "Aberlemmo 4," a Pictish Stone discovered in Scotland in 1961--
(photograph by By Catfish Jim and the soapdish - Own work, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=12150661)
Below the arch or crescent shape is The Pictish Beast, facing the viewer's right. The Beast appears to have four legs, but they trail off into spirals instead of having hooves or paws. Perhaps The Pictish Beast is a spirit, an elemental, or not entirely substantial (like a Ryori)?
The Beast in this carving is in the middle, again facing right--
It's decorated with knotwork, and spirals feature prominently. This is plainly the same Beast as in the first carving, but what about that head? Here it looks a bit like a seahorse's head, while the image on Aberlemmo 4 has more like a dolphin's head. In each, the Beast has the same quadruped shape, wispy feet (and tail), and some kind of horn, mane, or topknot.
Here's an image of "Martin's Stone"--

--showing The Pictish Beast between a horse and a serpent or perhaps sea serpent. Is The Pictish Beast supposed to be their offspring?
Hm. An aquatic creature with some kind of swirlies from its head and other places, which is perhaps like a sea serpent and perhaps like a horse, but also looking a bit like two aquatic creatures, seahorse and dolphin . . . what is that sounding like?
So, perhaps I can find out what The Pictish Beast is by simply asking one. I did my best to design a 3-Vis Kelpari with as many Pictish Beast traits as possible. The Pictish Beast often seems to smile, so I went with a mare.
All her colors come from the various colors of the stones that the Picts carved upon: pink granite, bluestone (with its distinctive greenish cast and spangles of little "stars"), tan sandstone, etc.
Since carvings of The Pictish Beast usually show it with spiral designs, or along with a crescent shape--
Crescent above, Pictish Beast below.
--I gave my Kelpari Glowing Runes, for spirals, and an Ornate Helm, to place a crescent on her head. I made them silver, because quite a bit of the Picts' surviving metalwork is in silver, including the thick silver chains they seem to have used instead of crowns.
So, this is "The Pictish Beast"--
Now all I need is for her to become real, and I can just ask her: "What are you?"
