I'm so excited! I have a question though: What will happen to all of the EXP that we've collected on our level 70 pets? Will they level up automatically, or will they lose all of the extra EXP?

Anytime Sylestia's Level Cap is raised, all previously max Level pets are reset to 0% into their Level.
The accruement of Experience at the Level Cap is just a technical oddity. The system isn't built to really "turn off" the gaining of Experience so the number just keeps increasing. There is a "Total Experience" value stored for each pet which is where the tallying Current Experience comes into play.
So, basically, any Experience that a pet earns while at the Level Cap is not real. Pets cannot advance any further than their Level Cap.

Aww, but Krin, what if I want to instantly shoot up like 200 levels ;P
I vaguely recall there being mention of some way to turn excess EXP into extra stats. Has that been discarded? Or would it only come into play after level 75 or something?

Any guesstimate on how long this added difficulty until we get to raise levels will be..?
And are the general's minions supposed to count for the "elites" buff? Because I lost all use of elite buff against the named cultist one. (I get Demora and Dia-whatever mixed up >__>; ) At the end I noticed the log said that both training grounds buffs had worn off.

And for the second issue, yea, that was brought up to me the other night. I plan on getting that changed so that Named encounters do not use Elite charges.

Small update: Named/Boss Battles will no longer consume "Elite" bonus charges via the additional "guards" during these encounters. Instead, a single Named/Boss (whichever applies) charge will be consumed and every enemy within that encounter will receive the Training Grounds debuff.
This should be much more player-friendly for utilizing these bonuses.
