Here's my entry for the 2022 Gingerbread House Contest~
I was a little late posting this after making it as I got sick shortly after.
Love all the Gingerbread Houses so far~

Used a kit again this year. This one was found at Aldi. I'm looking forward to eating it cause it certainly smelled good. The roof sticking together was surprisingly more difficult than the walls staying where they should. Propping something against a roof piece wanting to slide helps to get it to eventually stick.

As always I just can't do a House XD, this year I let my kiddos pick a theme and yes they helped decorate thus the odd look to all the sides, Had some oofs, kinda misjudged the roof but done in a bit of a rush so meh not bad XD
1. Prep, hand made gingerbread from scratch as always :) as a note if anyone wants my recipie I still have it up as a thread.
2. decorationg, we each picked a side, and let it dry, makes designs stay better.
4. Assembled, and decorated, OK kinda a jump but once the bits ere on we just went nuts, yes there is seating for four, yes that is a sandwich board, not a pink among us character, jujubes for topiary, rock candy for path. it was fun!
(Back door!)
Very simple design, a few tweeks and it would be great as part of a gingerbread village XD

I finished it! Just barely, and it took some assistance from my amazing mum, but I finished it. Ended up taking more than a day, and it fell apart a few times (thankfully we made backup pieces... but yeah, not fun) but we did both really try.
Unfortunately, though... that's basically all I can say about it. She doesn't have much experience with things like this, I have even less, and neither of us have ever made a gingerbread house before. Not to mention, we live in Brisbane, so the heat was awful.
I know I probably should have used a kit, but I've always dreamed of baking one myself from when I was a little kid, and I did really enjoy the experience, even if the actual product ended up being a disaster. The piping, in particular, but other highlights included issues with the fondant and realising halfway through that I didn't have enough jelly beans. Oh well. I'm sure it will still taste nice, at least.
