The reason a lot of pets don't look the way they're advertised in the store is because the traits are randomized to allow more customization--The exception being Restricted Trait sets which have only one outcome for traits. Pets bought from the store are also limited in how many traits they have, its meant to encourage you to breed them with other pets to get all of the traits.

For official guides, unfortunately because systems on the site are still moving around and changing, its difficult to have official things. Everything beyond the tutorial is driven by the community who tries to put things together and be as specific as possible because of misinterpretations--The text walls do kind of suck, but its difficult to explain some things without that much detail. ^^;

For releasing, there are actually reasons to do it. During certain events (The Patriotic event and Spring Festival for example) incentivize buying/breeding pets to release for rewards. As you get further into the game, there is also an entire system that works around releasing pets to get bonuses.

As someone who also has disabilities and difficulty with executive disfunction, I find it difficult to follow things like walls of text (which is why i try to separate things to make them easier to read) and I've found a few guides that shorten things and add different ways of explaining the systems, but some things are more difficult.

It's entirely okay if you have trouble, people can and will try to help you.

unfortunately most traps can't be traded, the one exception being the Master Traps.
i assume in the future it is something that will change, but for now we aren't able to trade that kind of resource. its the same with potions, (most) genetic testing kits, and scanners.

while you can't trade traps, i reccomend copying the pet's image adress so you can make it in the generator if you're really in love with it. i have an extra zol essence i can gift to you if want to generate it :)

Thankyou but no thanks, it was mostly for the fun of having a matching pair of captured yellow pups. I don't want to clutter myself unnecessarily, I already know I will anyway :P

Unrelated: do rewards for nurturing get better with unbroken chains? I want to know, should I take my time not to make any mistakes or can I just do it idly.

the only downside to missing out on nurturing a pet is that the pet does not get the slight bonus that comes after a certain amount of nurtures--it doesn't really make a difference unless you want the numbers either by gaining Scales or to place on the contest boards during festivals/some events.

extra rewards like essences or event currency/items are entirely random. you may get one or both in the same few nurtures, you may only see one or two a day.

I've only ever spent a little money on the site, and I do my projects for very cheap and often free even in terms of in game currency. The biggest factor is time. Getting through projects like this will usually take months since it's nearly a month for a single generation to mature, but generally finding pairs that look nice together is a lot easier than what I've done here, which is carefully breeding towards a goal.

the one addendum I'll add to f2p breeding is that going to pets with the highest possible battle stats is much easier for people who are willing to spend money on it. It's not impossible or necessary to do that type of project though f2p.
