Late to this, but I have a question.
If you hit test breed a bunch of times and it never shows a vis trait, does that mean that those two matched will never throw a vis trait when bred?

all test breeds are rng based on the parents, so it is possible that it's just bad luck, but it is likely that the parents have no trait overlap if you've rolled it quite a few times and gotten no visible traits showing in any of them
Which pets are the ones in question?

Mostly I'm trying to take all my Cherub Zolnixi and eventually breed them all so that I get one with lots of vis traits. I'm assuming that's possible.

All offspring from that pair would be G3: Carried Lucky Runes and M1: Carried Tri-tails
Looking at your five current CC nixi, you'll need to have at least one more female to be able to do much (though female offspring of the one female you currently have, bred to boys that aren't her father, would work)
It would probably take some doing but you could potentially get a 4v with a bit of work and a few generations (and possibly back-crossing).

So, those two would never have the ability to breed an egg with any visual traits? Based on the fact that their carried traits are two different genes that don't overlap?
I'd need to have one of their offspring be female, breed that one to one of the other males I have and keep that line gong until I eventually get one with the vis traits? Is that.... at all accurate of how to do that?
(Sorry, I understand very little about genetics or how to breed on this game. It's very confusing to me.)

Neither of the two have any carried traits- they're both gene tested, so we know they both only have their one Visible trait and no others, carried or hidden
Syelstia Genetics is Mendelian/ Punnett square genetics (if you've done any biology at highschool level, you've probably run across punnett squares before), with trait dominance starting with N (Nothing) as the most Dominant, but then going down the alphabet A > B > C > etc (though skipping from M to O). The Dominant letter is always in the 'visible' slot
Here's our chart from one of our guides:
this is six separate squares- one for each trait slot. Mother's genes on the horizontal axis, father's vertical, in black, with the offspring outcomes for each in colour (though with Nothing also being black)
The example in the thread's using vorpas, so I'll just use them here too
Let's take the M1 square:
The mother has M1 NI (no visible, carried I (sea fur))
The father has M1 HI (vis H (leafy seadragon fins), hidden I (sea fur))
So offspring could get N or I from their mother, and H or I from their father:
that can result in NH, NI, HI, or II,
Thus a baby could have any of the following:
> 25% carried H from father, no visible (N from mother)
> 25% chance carried I from father, no visible (N from mother)
> 25% vis H from father, hidden I from mother (so visible leafy seadragon fins, hidden sea fur)
> 25% I from both parents (visible sea fur)
