If you really want the a pet, don't attempt to kill it. The extra success it adds for lowered health just isn't worth it. Plus 78% of all trappers kill the pet they want when they try to damage it anyways lol.
The easiest way to avoid killing your target is to have your sylestis block themselves. If you do not have block unlocked, use your weakest attack. It is simple and easy.
I had my weakest pet do it's weakest attack since I KNEW that it would only take its damage down a little tiny bit more... and then it got a random critical and I raged XD
(My other 2 pets were blocking the entire time)
That is why it is best to have all block. The weak attack is only for when you do not have block.

I quickly became a Pet addict. I almost always fail at catching dem pretties, but I've succeeded a few times. Maybe I can sell!

And I use my lvl25s+ to go raiding anyways. You get block at lvl15, and so far, I haven't been using em. xD
