It needs to be some sort of house structure...so a castle would be fine.

Wow, first to post my Gingerbread House! :D

Anyway, I had a lot of fun making this, as always. Thanks for doing the Gingerbread House Contest again, Fai! This is actually my contribution to the Family Christmas get together. The sides of the gingerbread house have a lot less stuff on it. That is for those people who enjoy gingerbread without all the candy and sugar on it. XD

My supplies! I'm ready to go~

It's starting to come together~

Here's a shot of the back. Those little snowflakes took a lot of time to put up. XD

Here's a picture of the front. And everything's all ready to.... wait, something's missing.....

That's better! Got to have a White Christmas! :D

That was so much fun to do! I look forward to seeing everyone else's entries! :D

Reserving a spot. This is my first time doing anything like this so lets see how it turns out.

I forgot to put my user in the first 2 pics.

I used Marshmallow fluff for the snow and peanut butter cups for the tree stumps. The Christmas lights are Nerds Ropes.

Considering this was my first Gingerbread house I have ever made I am pretty happy with how it turned out.

Oh boy I've been waiting for this contest since the last one. Hope you're ready for a very image-heavy post! Here we go! :DD

Starting off with a sturdy foundation. The bread is toasted (well, broiled) and secured to the foam board with wooden skewers.

Second floor.. floor! Loads of skewers go through that bread, to make sure it doesn't buckle.

View inside after putting up the second floor. The skewers stuck in the first floor keep the bread from folding while it dries up.

Here's the view outside after putting up the second floor walls. Had to be carefully attached to the first floor.

Inside view

Added the upper floor ceiling. The bread on the plate is for the roof, bonus skewer view :D

Finished and attached the roof! It's pretty sturdy.

View of the inside so far, and the first ingredient used other than bread, cinnamon sticks as roof supports.

Shingles being made. I took the round part of the candlestick and used it to cut round shapes out of tortillas. Carb-free tortillas are surprisingly sticky.

After cutting enough tortillas to cover the roof (they were attached with a very sticky water and flour mix), I coated them with a mixture of flour, water, and food dye for a pop of color.

Fettuccine still makes pretty swell-looking floorboards.

I needed something colored to make tiling for the kitchen, so I made some teal dough and baked it.

After it was baked, I cut it into tiles. Didn't really get it flat enough, but I tried.

Halved deli-swirl bread makes an interesting carpet. Also there's a staircase now! (breadcase?)

Hamburger bun kitchen cabinets.

Inside progress so far. Some furniture hanging out in the attic drying, totally normal.

Won-ton wrappers are a crazy fabric-like food thing. This one is painted with food coloring and destined to become a tablecloth. There's also some couches chilling out in the corner.

I accidentally made the most beautiful-looking won-ton wrapper blanket.

Working on the BreadTV screen. It's also a won-ton wrapper, water-dough-pasted to bread.

It's still the only channel. The slight shimmer is from the edible silver spray featured in the last image.

The living room needed a Christmas tree. This one is made from bread coated in strips of watermelon pull and peel twizzlers.

Tiny, tiny tiny tiny decorations made from gum paste.

Finished furnishing! :D

Completed living room

Completed upper-floor computer room

Completed kitchen. The thing on the table, for size reference if anything, is a cheerio covered in sprinkles on a gum paste plate.

Closeup of kitchen counter (with anothing tiny cup on it). It's made of gum paste with sugar crystals pressed in.

These silly bits of kitchen furniture were difficult to photograph. To even reach my hand in and place the oven and sink was a challenge.

Completed bedroom. The paintings, drapes, and blanket are all food-coloring painted won-ton wrappers.

Filled the attic with "insulation" (cotton candy) and bits of bread.

Those tiny gum paste roses were for these window-flower boxes. So difficult to make (I have pretty large hands) but soooo cuuute.

Bonus closeup!

I thought the outside could use some additional holiday flair, so I added twizzlers with little bits of sparkle gel on them. The camera doesn't really do the sparkle justice, it looks great!

Attempted to get the camera close enough to catch the sparkles

Added a front yard with a lasagna fence. The dirt is crumbled oatmeal cookies and coffee grounds. Smelled really good. the pathway to the door is wafer cookies.

Final photo of the outside

Total construction time: about 3 full days. Thanks for looking at all the pictures. ^w^

Here is my entry, More traditional Gingerbread... There was so much more I wanted to do with this but my skills need to improve. Just saying I have only built one ofther gingerbread house and it was a kit sooo...

Gingerbread Store

First I started by making dough from scratch!!! Found a recipe and got to work, for those trying this like me for the first time ADD YOUR DRY INGREDIENTS SLOWLY!!! I did it fast and ended up both with a mess and a very crumbly dough, took careful adding of water to correct (sweat drop) This part took a day due to cooling time.

Second day I baked and shopped for decorations.. Tried to make my own iceing too an failed so tubed ready iceing it was.

Once assembled it was dry over night to day three, this way it was set and didn't break on me, my kids started drooling about now.

The next few days were decoration and fighting to keep my kids from picking at it. This was probably the toughest part. I didn't take as many photos as I was fighting off the hoards.

Here it is glowing, it has a hole underneath with a light so it glows at night :)

And here it is finished, my hands were shaking by this point so one handing the camera and holding the name paper was a bit blurry, Better closeups to follow!

Side

Side

Back

and better front, the sign is free standing and was a real pain to get to stay like that!

Snow sparkles with a fine coating of coarse sugar crystals so I opted for no sugar powder dusting, makes it easier to pick at too, the paving took forever because I was fussing that it all fit together.
And this was one decoration that failed, made marzipan from scratch but the colouring made it to soft, I made a faelora but it melted over night, sad, but showing my attempt anyhow.

I just want to finish by saying it took a total for five days to complete but It was a real test and challenge and I love a good character building challenge, I grew as a baker, thank you for this! I may make more marzipan figurines to go with cookie baskets later next week but I wanted this up before picking started :) The house won't survive till Xmas.

Happy holidays Everyone! May all you baking be Sweet!

Panels baked and almost cool enough.

Walls going up. Waiting for it to be dry enough to mess around inside took forever it seems.

Interior decorating done.

Exterior party done.

Still not sure if I like it... Not bad for a very first gingerbread house.

Still not liking the front of it.
