I think it works as, you just assign a value in gold to the things you'd be getting in trade. So I could bid (random example) 1 level 20 experience orb + 50k gold. Then you'd just take the price of the exp orb, using the trade broker for guidance I would think, and add that to the 50k, and accepting the bid you'd say the price equivalent in pure gold that people would have to exceed if they wanted to put in a higher bid.

The reason I wouldn't say "I bid 1 level 20 experience orb + 50k gold, which equals X gold" would be if you valued the item differently from what I would. You may not like experience orbs too much but be willing to take them, or you may think a certain item is really valuable to you. With diamonds there's a different exchange rate that different people hold to (and different rates at different times).

So if that works for you I will bid with the item you said you were interested in, later on if I have the item still as this auction is going for a while.
