Play it in reverse.

Two kids, siblings, were sitting outside in a field on Halloween Eve. Before them was a blazing bonfire, which did little to ease the chill. "Why did we come here?" the younger girl, who went by the name of Jesse, groaned. Her annoyance was as clear as the sky, a bright moon illuminating the corn field. "Good question," James replied.

They had received a party invitation the day before, given to them by a masked visitor. Jesse and James had shrieked when he pulled his mask off to reveal that he was, indeed, not a partygoer, but a cognizant scarecrow. He hopped on his unstable, neurotic Nytekrie and flew into the night, cackling.

James looked at his watch, and saw the second hand wasn't moving. The corn parted to reveal a suspicious shed that had definitely not been there a mere ten seconds ago. Immediately, they stood up. "Let's go!" Jesse clutched her stuffed animal, a green and yellow plush cat from a Halloween show she liked called Kooky Kittens and followed her older brother, albiet reluctantly.

The brother reached for the trapdoor, but a gust of wind pushed it open with a groan and a squeal. "I guess that is entres vous." The squeaking hatch seemed to radiate cold, and the room beyond it practically swallowed the light. James grabbed Jessie's hand and dragged her inside. There were holes in the wood, and they could feel the wind. With another groan, the hatch slammed shut and bolted itself, rusting over like it had been that way for years.

Jesse panicked, and then screamed when the swinging chandelier that they couldn't see previously burst into light. James made an audibly gulp as he fumbled with the door. "We're trapped." A panel fell down as the wind intensified. Then made their way past the broken wood and coils of barbed wire, to see stone rectangles. Graves. The scarecrow was there, holding a shovel and grinning. He gestured to the grave nearest him which had a deep hole next to it. The name said Jesse and James Brown. The siblings stumbled into the hole and the dirt encased them.

Play it in reverse.

Happy Halloween. (I got inspiration from the idea of living in reverse. So, what if they weren't waiting, but had just left? In reverse, the scarecrow uncovered them and they became zombies, who went into the barn. Jesse screamed when the lights went off. The old door up rusted and they left. The shed they used to live in vanished with their memory, and later, they invited the scarecrow to a party. Cool huh?)

A group of small children huddled in front of a Blazing Bonfire. The wind was screaming around them, whipping the hair of the children too and fro as they stared intently at the Masked Visitor. There eyes were dull, as tho no life remained in them. In the children's hands were party invitations. The invitations were a very pale red, almost white. A small wax stamp held the invitations closed, engraved on them was a Swinging Chandelier. In the distance a squeaking hatch could be heard. The masked visitor stood up and indicated for the children too follow him. He led them too down the streets. It was dark and the wind was still howling. Two small kooky kittens mewed at the children as they walked by, huddled in a cardboard box. One of the children reached as though to pick them up but a quick snarled reprimand from the masked figure stopped them. In the distance they were growing close to the form of a suspicious shed. Behind that there was a graveyard. The children were lead into the graveyard where they were instructed to form a graveyard ritual. One of the children started crying but was soon taken away by a Neurotic Nytekrie. The child would never be seen again. The crying grew louder as one by one the children were taken away. None of them would ever be seen again. When the parents of the children went too look for them in the morning all they could find were a few blood spattered invitations and the doll of one of the children laid out in front of the limp form of a smiling cognizant scarecrow.

The three teenage boys whispered amongst themselves as they cautiously approached. They had heard rumors that there was to be a graveyard ritual that night in the old cemetery. They wanted to see if the rumors were true. They waited until nightfall and then stealthily entered the cemetery. The graveyard was lit with an earie glow. The teens noticed that the glow was from a blazing bonfire in the distance. The teens, thinking that the ritual must be taking place nearby, crept towards the fire. They could just barely make out a suspicious shed. A neurotic nytekrie on a nearby branch flapped its massive wings and took flight, screeching at the teenagers and causing them to scream in fright. A cognizant scarecrow near the shed heard their screams and began to approach. You there, it exclaimed, Are you here for the ritual? Where is your party invitation? One of the boys decided to lie and responded, We lost it. We were hoping we would still be able to attend. The scarecrow looked them over and replied, No matter. Join us! The ritual is just about to begin! He began to walk back towards the shed. He held open the door for the boys. Just head on it. Open the secret door and head downstairs. The teens thanked the scarecrow and entered the shed. They lifted the squeaking hatch and peered inside. The room below was dim, but they could hear chatter and faint music. The boys began to descend the steps. Once they reached the bottom, something scampered in front of them. What was that? the first boy asked. Suddenly candles began to glow around the room and they saw that it was just a bunch of kooky kittens running around the floor. A masked visitor stepped in front of them. Welcome to the ritual! Youre going to bring some life to this party! There is plenty of food and great music. The boys looked around the now lit room and saw that it wasnt anything scary at all. Just some people having a party. The teenagers decided to stay and have some fun. They danced and partied throughout the night. Suddenly, a gust of air burst through the room and all of the partiers, decorations and food were gone. All that was left was a swinging chandelier. The boys looked at eachother and then ran up the stairs and out of the shed. The sun was beginning to rise. The scarecrow was slumped on the ground, not alive at all. When they said we were going to bring some life to the party, I didnt realize they meant it literally! They were all ghosts! The teens ran from the graveyard as quickly as they could. As they ran through the gates, they could hear laughter coming from the direction of the shed.

Three kooky kittens, clothed in black hats, spooky costumes and armed with pillowcases, were on there way to a graveyard ritual with their parents. Their parents, two creepy cats, were there to sing around the blazing bonfire and talk with their friends, but the three kittens were just there in hopes of getting some candy. At the entrance to the large and very suspicious shed, they flashed their party invitations at the doorman, a neurotic nytekrie, and he opened the doors for them, revealing a revel. There were animals dancing and partying, chanting around the bonfire, even taking turns riding on the swinging chandelier! A seemingly cognizant scarecrow was handing out punch from a bright red bowl, when all of a sudden, a masked visitor approached the three kittens. He smiled under his mask and spoke in a loud voice, "Want to come have some fun?" He pulled open a squeaking hatch leading to a dark tunnel. The kittens looked at each other with wide eyes. Hadn't they been told not to trust strangers? "You aren't scared are you?" Asked the stranger. The oldest kitten shook his head and led them in jumping down the hatch. They soon realized however, there was nothing to fear, as all they saw were more animals, these ones significantly younger. They soon joined in the revelry, dancing along to the party, and having a great halloween.

Once upon a time, In the kingdom of Shadowglen. There were dark times among the people of the kingdom of Shadowglen. The land was ruled by a dark witch and her all knowing, Cognizant Scarecrow named Dion the Serpent, who was the mix of a snake and a scarecrow which made a very creepy sight to behold. Dion being completely loyal to all his Mistresses wishes carried out her orders without question.

The heroine of this story is the Lady Anne Marrow and she was as innocent as a person could be, so when She received a party invitation which read " To all the beautiful Lords and Ladies of this land, you are cordially invited to Dooms fell castle to a ball held in honor of her royal highness, Queen Margrethe Easton, second of her name to share in celebration of her tenth year of reigning over our prosperous kingdom of Alasmir." She thought nothing of the dark times to come.

The witch stood at her cauldron spouting vile curses into her brew as her neurotic nytekrie screeched its death under her malevolent stare. She had not been invited to the ball that Queen Margrethe had sent invitations across the land for. It filled the witch with untold rage for this bruise on her ego. She screamed and hissed with rage at her demonic kooky kittens causing them to scatter to the corners of the room. She knew with certainty that she would have her revenge, The kingdom would be cursed on the next full moon. The witch smiled wickedly and thought about the fact that happened to be the night of the ball. There would be a dark magic performed in graveyard ritual. Such was the way of her people since times long since forgotten. The witch laughed maniacally as she threw the nyketrie in the cauldron. She left her cauldron to boil and continued to plant the dark seeds of doom.

Lady Anne sighed as she walked down to the marketplace, She had a ball gown but it was woefully out of date to attend such a high function as the Queen's Gala. First she bought a yard of spider silk lace from the elven merchant located centrally in the square and then she went to the troll clothiers and bought a yard and a half of rich royal blue velvet to accent the pale blue that was already in her gown. As she left the clothier's shop, she saw something she never expected to see. A dark bloodstained wraith covered in skulls. She almost screamed out loud except for the rough hand that quickly rested on her mouth. " Do not scream Lady, I will explain what you just saw if you care to accompany me." She took a deep breath and turned to look at her temporary captor. He was darkly hooded and cloaked but he spoke gently " Come with me dear lady, your life is in danger." She hesitated and he saw the fear in her eyes. " I swear you an oath, no harm will come to you by my hand for I serve the queen and you her twin sister." She nodded and followed him, for some reason she instinctively knew she could trust him. The man led them to a hole in the wall tavern and they sat in at a table in the back corner of the room. The room was mostly empty considering the time of day was too early for the normal crowds. Lady Anne spoke hesitantly " I am a exact image of queen Margrethe?" The Man nodded and lowered his hood. " You are her twin in fact." Anne gasped " how can that be?" The roguish man spoke softly " You are her younger sister, She sent you away for your protection when you were but a child and made you forget her as well." So many questions came to her mind just then but she quieted down. " All will be explained in due time, but the main facts you need to know. You are her younger sister. I am the Spy Master Silk, I am here for your protection at your sister's request because of a plot that has come to our attention with the witch Aster." Anne just mutely nodded and listened to silk's whole tale in full as she chugged down the mug of vile Ale he handed her from the bar.

3 weeks later...

Anne looked at the sunset, it didn't seem the same after everything that had happened. There had been 4 attempts on her life all intercepted by Silk who had been her constant companion. She had heard plenty of dark magic and mystical wraiths as well as many other things. It all still didn't seem real. Tomorrow night was the night this whole scheme would come to full play. Instead of her tattered ball gown, The queen had paid the same Troll Clothier to craft her a new one. She would have reveled in it except for the true meaning of what was going on. She was to be announced to the upper classes of the kingdom. This would reveal Aster to them and hopefully they would destroy her once and for all.

Later that evening.

Lady Anne was fully in costume and rode in a regal carriage the royal palace, She saw her twin sister the queen waiting on the steps to greet her as they arrived. Silk assisted Anne from the carriage and her sister ran up to her as fast her her elegant dress would allow " It is good to see you dear sister." Anne nodded mutely " I am sorry you have such a dangerous role to play." Anne sighed " For you my queen, I would do anything." They left the front of the palace and entered a very Suspicious Shed through a squeaking hatch. Her sister waved her hand and the room glowed " you are now me dear sister and I am you for the span of this evening." Magrethe left the shed and Silk spoke to her softly " In an hour at the height of the full moon you should be... stolen by the witch Aster." Silk looked away from her as he went silent. He took her arm as they strolled into the palace.

The witch hissed as she strolled in the front door of the palace and gave the doorman her invitation. Her black dress coiling about her. She looked around the room and wasted no time putting her plan into action.
she waved her wand and the queen suddenly collapsed off the throne. She transported them to the graveyard and soon her revenge would be complete.

Silk moved quickly from the blazing bonfire he was sitting next to, when he saw the witch dragging Anne off into the forest. He knew there was a graveyard there and that the sacrifice would happen. He knew time was off the essence and rushed off to the graveyard.

Anne struggled as she was dragged through the forest by darked and masked figures with bone hands. She knew that her life if the plan did not go correctly would be at an end. She resigned herself to that fate, it was strange that she would end up this way after feeling like she was just a simple farm girl for so many years. Finally they reached a clearing in the woods surrounded by grave markers which stood out to her for their ornate style also in the tree above there was a Swinging Chandelier crafted from what was obviously human bones and held tallow candles. at the center of the ruined graveyard stood a masked visitor . Suddenly, Anne felt sudden dread. It was the scarecrow Dion, and he was here to carry out his mistresses wishes.

Silk raced and got there just as Dion was about to bloody his blade with his mistresses evil desires, He knocked the blade from Dion's hand and looked at the hollow shell of what used to be a man, his human body a patchwork memory. Dion hissed in protest at the intrusion and struck out at silk, but Silk nimbly dodged the blow and lopped Dion's head clean off with a blow from his hidden blades. He ran to Anne and untied her from the makeshift altar and kissed her. Anne just stared at him in dumb shock and said " Yes, I will marry you, if thats what you are going to ask." Silk laughed and they both returned to the palace and their new lives and Anne never again complained for she was happy.

They spent many years hunting down the witch Aster and finally slew her in a major battle which was called the 100 year War of witches in the history books

After that, they all lived happily ever after

THE END

( this is 1500 words, tried my best to slim it down cause I had 3000 words before I hope this is okay and everyone likes the story)

"Gather round, let me tell you a story..." the mother said to her litter of 14 kooky kittens. They were all dressed up in little witch hats and orange bow ties, all looking as silly as can be.

It was one Halloween night, in a far away land, where the humans had just had a breakthrough in science, discoveries were being made and some was quite scary indeed. Dr. Mydor had sent out party invitations to 7 of his most trusted, fellow scientist friends; except it was not an ordinary invitation. Instructions were encrypted within the invite, detailing of what they would do in a few nights. The company of scientists gathered after three moons had passed, at Dr. Mydor's house. They all walked silently and rather forlornly through his house, towards his suspicious shed They slowly heaved open the squeaking hatch concealed in the floor. The hall below was fairly large, decorated by an unlit swinging chandelier. The only light source in the room was a blazing bonfire in the centre, throwing it's illuminating glow into all the cracks and crevices in the crumbling stonework.

All the people in the room lit candles from the bonfire in the middle and laid them around the room, and the room slowly became brighter. Different ornaments and relics were being laid out, and in a couple of moments, they were ready to start The Graveyard Ritual. The scientists all gathered in a circle, nervously anticipating what was to come and change the world. A knock sounded at the top of the hatch. All 7 scientists whipped around to pin their gaze at the entrance. No one was supposed to know about this place. The hatch creaked open, as a masked visitor descended the ladder. The scientists drew various weapons, ranging from sharp, deadly syringes to nothing but their bare hands. The intruder lifted his hood and revealed his face.

The people sighed in relief as they realised that the masked figure was another who was to partake in the ritual, but couldn't attend due to pressing matters regarding his neurotic Nytekrie. Now, with 8 people, the ritual would be much more powerful. They reassembled into a circle around the bonfire and the chanting began. A mysterious tongue talking of ancient worlds, songs of lost civilisations. When the last words left their lips, a billowing cloud of purple smoke ascended from the fire, and in the midst of the purple cloud, a stick like figure had emerged. They had succeeded. They had succeeded in summoning the cognisant scarecrow, who would change the fate of the world. In his stick arms, lay a small, furry creature with pointed ears that he was stroking as it slept. This furry creature was the first of it's kind on this world, and would later be known as the first cat.
"The end" purred the mother cat, all 14 kittens staring at her with wide-eyed curiosity.

The wind blew eerily through the trees with it's own high pitched melody as I walk through the dark forest. Earlier, a masked visitor had come knocking at my house door and handed me a suspiciously colored party invitation. I'd wanted to refuse, but he insisted, so here I was. Each shadow seemed to have a life of it's own as the trees swayed in the wind, making hissing sounds, as if warning me away. I had no choice but to go on. A mysterious force was pulling me forwards and closer to whatever unknown destination I was supposed to go to.

The forest gave way to ghostly field, the long blades of grass looking like spines of a massive, unknown beast. The wind had been so strong back then, but now everything was silent. No blade of grass moved; not a sound. Clouds covered the moon, as if even the moon was scared to show her face, and therefore bathing the grassland in darkness. I continue down the gravel path, the only sound I can hear is my own breathing and the crunching of my sneakers, with absolutely no other sign of life, not even the grass.

In the distance, I see a shadow against the grass. I shiver, not knowing whether it was from the cold or from fear. I near the shadow, and see it is a shed. A very suspicious shed with a squeaking hatch on the side. My skin crawls when I hear a rustle among the thick silence around me. Curiosity could kill, I knew, but it still drove me forwards to see what it was. I come closer to the shed and muffle a scream as I see someone slumped against the side of the shed. Who was it? How did they die?! I inch closer and let out a small sigh of relief as I realize what I thought was a corpse was actually a scarecrow. Was that a piece of paper taped to the scarecrow's chest? I investigate and find that yes, yes it is. Something red was smeared across the paper, forming dripping letters.

ThE CoGnIZanT ScaRECroW

The horrid letters read. "The cognizant scarecrow?" I whisper to myself, repeating the words on the paper. My stomach drops as another rustle is heard and I gulp, realizing I never should have said anything out loud. The scarecrow's head lifts and I scream, unable to contain the horror. Blazing orange eyes stare into my soul as a scratchy voice says, "RuN, stRAnGer! WhAT You aRE aBouT to SeE is Far BeYONd YOuR aBilITY tO EndURE! RuN FoR YOur liFE!" It then throws it's head back and laughs, a horrible, terrifying laugh, it's laugh reverberating across the empty and silent field. The grass begins to move around us as a wind picks up, swirling the grass back and forth, making sounds like dead laughter and whispers. Aghast, I begin to run.

I tear across the land, nearly burning up the soles of my shoes. The scarecrow's laughter echoing behind me burned into my mind, and I push myself to run faster. Where was I even? I didn't even know. All I knew was to get away from the demonic laughter that was slowly unwinding my mind, chipping away at my sanity. In the distance, I see a dark castle against the cloudy sky. Hoping that was where the masked visitor wanted me to go, I slowed to catch my breath and headed up to long winding road leading to the castle.

At the pair of heavy, dusty wooden doors, I see the two knockers. The knockers would strike fear into even the most seasoned of warriors. Holding my breath and looking away, I reach towards one of the knockers, lift it up, and let it fall. The boom seemed to shake the whole castle. Looking at the doors again, I was sure the heavy metal knockers would break the old, rotten wood doors with their weight, but they didn't. As I was about to try knocking, the door opened. It opened jerkily, as if the hinges were not oiled well, but it opened without a sound. Frightened by this phenomenon and with nowhere else to go, I advanced into the castle. Another pair of doors awaited me down a long, dark, carpeted hallway, and I heard eerie chanting and music from inside that strangely sounded like a graveyard ritual. Green light that could only be described as poisonous spanned out from the crack under the door. Steeling myself, I pushed the door open. The green light spilled onto me and into the hallway, temporarily blinding me. I rubbed my eyes and looked into the room to find the chanting had stopped. In the wall, a blazing bonfire of a fireplace burned bright green, while a swinging chandelier hung from the cracked ceiling, creaking back and forth, casting dancing shadows onto the ceiling behind it. That's when I notice the kooky kittens, with their poofed up grey fur and a chaotic look in their eyes, staring into my eyes, I felt my spirit leaving my body. I shook uncontrollably. This was too much. The look in their eyes turned murderous, and they smiled creepily, tilting their heads at me, not making one sound. Overwhelmed, I turned and got ready to run for it when I promptly crashed into a green, furry animal much taller than I was. I look up, and see a sight I shall never forget, ever. It made me want to scream, pull my hair out, go crazy, and curl up and hide all at the same time. The deranged eyes of a neurotic nytekrie stared into mine like the kittens' had, but this was much more terrifying. I could see the folds of light and dark swirling around in that dark red void of eye, a sign of neurosis. I could physically feel myself going psychotic, and the world fell away around me.

For the second and last time, I screamed.

Little Lilly was walking through Umbra's Veil to talk to the Demon Hunters and the Dream stealers, when she happened upon a Suspicious Shed by the graveyard. A dark aura emanated from the shed, and it gave her the creeps. She turned to her neurotic nytekrie companion, and asked if he felt the strange aura as well. Nyte merely ruffled his feathers indignantly in response. Just as she was about to turn away back to the path, she thought she heard the meows and yowls of some kooky kittens inside. Being the kind hearted girl that she was, Lilly cautiously made her way towards the shed.

Discovering that the shed was locked, she went around back and found a squeaking hatch buried underneath some dead leaves. "Hmm...." she thought. "This looks like someone was trying to prevent someone from going into the shed. Lilly had made up her mind.

Cautiously, she pried open the hatch, only to discover three mischievous zolnixi pups playing on the swinging chandelier that was inside the spacious shed. Gasping, Lilly quickly called out to the pups, "What are you three doing down here? Where is your family"

The smallest of the pups, a black furred yellow eyed female proudly approached Lilly and sat herself down regally right in front of her and proclaimed, "Mother and Father are preparing everything for the graveyard ritual. Puzzled, Lilly was about to ask more when the largest pup, a fierce auburn furred blue eyed male snarled at the little one, "Hush, you must not speak of such things to someone who is not a Masked Visitor."

Piercing blue eyes bored into Lilly's, signifying that she was the one he was talking about. Whimpering, a charcoal colored pup with green eyes spoke from the shadows: "Greeting adventurer, we've been waiting for someone to rescue us."

Astonished at these pups, Lilly immediately responded, "Oh dear, what can I do to help!"

Chuckling, the green eyed pup said, "Fear not, we are not in mortal danger. We are merely asking to be rescued from this boredom! Mother and Father left us here and told us to stay put, but this shed is terribly boring and we're glad to have some company"

Sighing, the blue eyed pup intercepted, "Yes, well, we can only really play and have fun once the party starts!"

Lilly's ears immediately perked up at the word party. She said, "Party? Can I come!?"

No sooner had she spoken those words, than the yellow eyed pup pounced forwards with a scroll in her mouth. Opening it up, Lilly realized that she had received a party invitation>.

The invitation read: "Please join us shortly for a gathering around the blazing bonfire we create every year in celebration of our Lord and his powers. Entertainment will be provided."

Curious, you asked the little girl, "Who is this Lord the invitation speaks of?"

"Why, he's the cognizant scarecrow! At least, thats what we call him when our parents arent around. Most call him the Dream Lord."

Excited, Lilly couldn't wait for the party. She played with the pups until the blue eyed one said it was time to go.

Alas...if only Lilly had realized that she was the entertainment, and that the lord the pups spoke of was master of Nightmares instead of dreams...

The young girl sat on the fence and watched the kooky kittens as they did some sort of graveyard ritual around a blazing bonfire. Suddenly she saw a masked visitor approach her. He handed her a party invitation which she quickly glanced at. She got a glance of the words cognizant scarecrow and neurotic Nytekrie before the invitation turned to ashes in her hands. She followed the stranger to a suspicious shed with a sqeauking hatch. Once inside she saw a swinging chandelier coming towards her and the sound of evil laughter before the world went dark.

I was so excited for Halloween this year, I'm going to be a Cognizant Scarecrow, and my best friends, Emma and John, were going as Koody kittens and the best thing about their costumes was that they were best friends. And my other best friend is allowing her special Neurotic Nytekrie out at the Blazing Bonfire that is going to to be after the annual Graveyard Ritual, I had gotten my Party Invitation yesterday from a Masked Visitor..
Time skip 5 hours.....
We're here but all that we can see is a Suspicious Shed without a door, I look at my friends and signaling for them to follow me to the shed. All of a sudden I see a Squeaking Hatch, which was weird but okay. Then we went into the shed and then we see a lot of people having a good time. The inside of the shed was bigger than what we saw on the outside, but then we look up and see Swinging Chandelier with a masked boy flipping around in the air. Just then everyone turned to look at us, and then the Masked Man stepped forward and said, "Welcome to the never ending Halloween party now that your here you now belong to us and you can never leave. Hope you enjoy your new life. We needed some new people, because some of the others ended up either disappearing or dying on us."
Then they all started laughing and then they rushed at us. I wish that I had never let my friends convince me to come. Then the Masked Man reached up and pulled off his mask and then my friends and I gasped "Sara." She smiled at us and cackled.
