Since it's along the same lines, I also want to mention that we are brainstorming a way to make feeding valuable.

Most likely, it will be some type of reward system for feeding your pets. We'll not only have an individual pet system where feeding each pet matters, but also a stable-wide system where keeping all of your pets fed matters.

One idea (and this is not set in stone or determined to be implemented), is to have pets have some type of "happiness" meter. Keeping it fed and healthy keeps their happiness up. Their happiness then increases their performance. So the better you take care of your pets, the better they perform. This would be an incentive to take care of your main pets.

Then, there will be a tracker of all of the pets you own. Keeping them fed over a certain threshold will reward you daily with some type of reward. So this will be an incentive to spend your gold feeding them everyday b/c you'll be rewarded for doing so.

Hopefully the combination of the above will make active players want to spend the daily required amount of gold to keep all of their pets fed (or, release the ones they don't want b/c they're too expensive to feed and they don't want to lose out on the reward).

@Krinadon,
At the 'all pets you own' comment, that just gives me the incentive to have less pets <- idk if that's what you want.

You could make the incentive titles? Something that affects solely that user and no-one else. Additionally, people could then work towards a goal, like "fully fed pets for 1 month" kind of thing. I think that works better than daily rewards. You could also use this strategy for other things people are tending to avoid doing. Perhaps a title for raiding? As that has seems to have less interest now.

I would be very interested in an incentived feeding system. I admit, I have a few stables that are the starving grounds, full of pets I don't use but I'm saving for whatever reason. Having rewards for keeping them fed would make me really sort out and discover what pets I actually want, and get rid of the ones I don't want.

I think you can either have a system based on feeding all pets on a % basis (ie new player has to keep at least 5/10 pets fed for 50% happy and older player with more pets has to keep 50/100 pets fed, but they're capable of doing so by then)

or via number (have 5-10 per tab fed to meet requirement)

something like that xD;

Maybe we can do something like when the pets don't get any food and they knock out and then they can't battle or anything until they get more food.

@Crystal25152, we already have a malnourishment system where they have lesser stats if they're not fed.

My thoughts on the feeding pets thing is that those people who have lots of pets have either bought diamonds to have the stable space for those pets, bought from diamond sellers who buy diamonds regularly to sell, or some combination of the above. I think that I won't mind feeding so much if there's not a negative aspect to people who have bought stables to have those pets. But honestly, I kind of think that there might be better gold sinks out there and not to bother with the feeding pets thing altogether.

As far as pet population goes I've been wondering if maybe it should take longer intervals for pets to be able to breed again. I'd kind of hate it myself but if it came between that or pets dying I'd take longer breeding intervals. And you can't make more money off of people who quit the game because their pets are dead. I'm so glad that's not on the table.

Also, about the person we'll be selling pets to eventually for gold, wouldn't that just encourage more pets to be bred and caught? Or would they disappear from the system once they're turned in to the person? I know there was talks of an adoption center. What if there were two npc's. One that would buy a pet and remove it from the system permanently and an adoption center person where someone can send a pet for a chance to be adopted. If the pet is adopted after a certain amount of time it would leave the system.

The NPC that you would sell the pets to would totally remove the pets from the game. And with the Adoption Center we would probably make it so that say a pet wasn't adopted in like a week then it would be released.

So as I understand it, pets sold to the NPC would not go up for adoptions, and pets released normally, as they are now, can be put up for adoption? Is there any kind of limit on selling pets to the NPC? Because I have a lot of breeding projects and I wouldn't want the pets I've released to get adopted by someone else and them to get a shortcut in all my hard work.

Furthermore I think there should be an option for a released pet to be automatically removed from the game. Selling pets to the NPC sounds like it could potentially annoying and I may not even bother with the possibly miniscule amount of gold I'd get from doing this.

That's not how it would work.

Already released pets are released. They can't come back.

The NPC would purchase pets from you for gold and then they would essentially become released.

Or, you could opt to put a pet up for adoption where other players can freely adopt it and then own it. However, pets that go a week or two without being adopted will become released.
