I had the same problem with Faerinas Shrine as you before I added a Fire pet to my team. And doing that paid off just as well for me as it did for you. *Nods*

I tend to do that too, TBH. But during the soon-to-be-over Spring Festival, I sometimes had to use my second team to fight named enemies, even after switching out one or more of my main party pets with one or both of these backup ones:
(Alternate) Fire Cannon

(Alternate) Tank (Earth)

This was the alternate team I used the most:
Air Cannon

Shadow Tank

Light Healer

This team stood up pretty well against the few named enemies I did fight, but my main team lasted a bit longer, compared to this one.

This is my second Party, but I haven't used it since the Fortune Week

Earth Tank
Light Healer
Wind Damage Dealer

But I don't get as good results with this team, as I get with my main team. Maybe it's because the wind pet is about 8-9 Level behind her teammates.
But I mainly use this team to send them out on missions ^^*

I have a few more Pets I want to use for a new Party. Maybe I can test out some other combinations with them.

As for the named: I had no problems. I could just run through Astryl's Meadow and battle one named after the other, without paying attention at all...once or twice my tank died, because the named mainly blocked my healing pet for 5 rounds and I wasn't paying attention at all to their stats, because I normally never need to.

The named in the lost grove with the two Ferrikkis, was no problem as well. It took me about 3-4 minutes to beat him, but that was all...

I mainly use the Attack on one to fill up my mana and use the boosts whenever I get them and use the Finisher on 2 all 4-5 Rounds if I can manage it with the mana. Most of the time the burning helps me a lot xD

our main team
Earth / Light / Air

Team we're ranking the abilities on:
Water / Light / Fire

Shadow pet that we also need to rank but we found it harder to use as a tank at lv65+ with the lack of defensive technique.

Stable tab with most of my lv50 light+2fire board teams (notably, we have one of the fire aurs as the tank on the aur team. Nyte lv50 team is in a different stable, as is the light tank of the luff team)

Fire and air use different strategies- Fire at 100% mana we use tech3, then 4 and 2 in either order. Air there's much less use of tech4 due to it being best used the lower the enemy's HP %, with more focus on tech2 with tech3's buff, making use of it in conjunction with the bleeding debuff from tech1 and 2.

Wind is better against single enemies, and I find it much better against the elites & named in the Lost Grove forest...

Fire is fine, but I wanted something that made things simpler against Eleane...so I have a Water/Light/Air team that I ranked up a fair bit.

...then I got to the cave (stage 7)! Very different types of enemies! o.O

Here I find fire much more useful (even when I haven't ranked it up past rank 2 yet)!

Right now I have two teams: a higher ranked balanced team (water/light/air), and a lower ranked attacking team (light/fire/air). The one with fire has faster battles, even though it's lower ranked!

In the end, it comes down to preference. There are a lot of good combos. Balanced teams are good at being okay in almost all situations --never terrible & never great. Targeted teams can can be really amazing, but usually have major weaknesses as well.
