If you read through the post, some details are given: Combat, Caretaking, and Conservation.

Since you're a newer user, you haven't unlocked the zones for Combat and probably don't have many pets to release for Conservation. So I'd recommend trying Caretaking - nurturing pets to gain points for these ranks.

Here's a brief guide to nurturing if you don't know how.

Just start battling in the listed locations against the required enemies, start nurturing, or start releasing pets that are at least 42 days of age.

There is no actual enlistment process.

Thanks Krin, I think I could be a caretaker but should probably put more thought so I am not struggling later :)

Krin for battling is the progression counted by the just quantity of enemies killed or the quantity of enemies killed and their level?

(like does defeating higher level enemies help you progress faster)
