Ahhh dang!
If the poses are kept the same, it would be possible to reuse the mutations with tweaks. So perhaps they don't have to do 2x the work?

So, I'm new here, this is my first festival. How do the wardrobe items work? I looked through all the outfits in the wardrobe and didn't find a single new outfit unlocked. I don't mean to be stupid but if someone could help me that would be greatly appreciated.

"Unlocked" in this case just means added to the wardrobe so we can see them. I can see where you'd be confused - you're not stupid.
It's pretty typical for Krin to add the new items into the wardrobe for us to look at and mess with before fest starts. Kind of a preview of coming attractions.
Hopefully the fest zone will open tomorrow. We'll then be able to fight bosses that can drop avatar items, and then "unlock" them properly as items that we can wear.
