By any chance are these the items you got from the advent calendar?
All the items from the advent calendar are untradeable, which means you can't sell or gift them, if you look at the little hover text.

They are probably the items you received from the Advent Calendar and are not tradeable.

Oof, I've been hoarding avatar items since last year for this, though I gave away over 100 of them during Trick-or-Treat. Guess I'll need to save twice as much next year.

As far as I know, there are explore zones for all the seasonal festivals.

If you look in the dungeon and zone discussion area of the forums, there is a thread with maps of all the different areas to explore.

Will we be able to open our stockings after Dec. 25? Im not going to be able to be online that day and wanted to know whether or not everything in there is just gone.

Yep. You can open them at any point from December 25th on through the end of the Winter Festival.
