I see Derpy is still a thing, with the update. When I only just signed up a few days ago, I got that nurturing option wrong almost every time until I figured out what it needed. There is no clue for that one. In fact, playing with it seemed the best option, since being derpy usually means being silly, which usually happens when you're bored.
Anyway, love that we can just keep going now instead of having to click each and every one to reach the options. And the auto-refresh is great.
Derpy is indeed meant to be silly. The opposite of silly (in our minds at least) would be serious. And generally, reading a book would be categorized as "serious" in regards to the available options.
For Hatchlings, Restless was changed to Bored in order to make Bored -> Play more obvious.
but if it's complety randome does that mean ones a stat is max it gets removed from the randome chance?
becaus normaly the lowest stat is what the pet would be needing.
alsow nurtering truw the pet profile page seams not to be working
The option that you select to properly Nurture it has 0 effect on what Stat is boosted. Once a successful Nurture has been processed, the script determines which Stat to allocate based on the algorithm for weighing the Stats. It's the same algorithm that was used before.

Oh wow that's quite nice, thanks! Will there ever possibly be an option to nurture for only certain species? :0 That would really help during fests or if people want to try to grind for essences.

This has been suggested quite a few times, but I've always held the same stance. I want Nurturing to be generally neutral when it comes to the official feature - especially with the much improved quality of life aspects that were just added.
It would be pretty obvious that if we allowed species specific Nurturing that the less popular species would receive significant less Nurtures compared to the popular ones and that is not something I want to promote.
The way the results are built treats them all fairly and if a Player wants to Nurture only a specific species, it will require a bit more legwork on their part to do it manually.

I really like the fact that you can see whose pet you are nurturing :)
