*whistles innocently* I breed for the heck of it and put all of the hatchlings up for 1g...but I price fables better.

Perhaps the 1g feature could be kept in if we include a username. Because a lot of time I give pets to my friends, most of them somewhat poor all the time. I'd hate to make them pay for pets I want to give them.

In few words
Support for NPC trading pets for scales b/c scale economy isn't too much tied to gold economy
No support for limit on breeding numbers per pet, fabled or regular
Support for hatchery page limit, but can default number be like 5? Overbreeders use 10-30 pages. I honestly think the average player who breeds healthily should have 5 to begin with.

I breed in mass to get the most results from one male; however, I do not 1g any of my unwanted pets after they hatch. I name the ones that I plan to keep and release the ones that I don't. Its a waste of time and space (in my opinion) to keep pets up for sale for 1 gold.... Seriously? If you know for a fact you don't want it, enough to sell it for 1g, just release it.

You really can't blame someone for selling pets for 1g. The game allows them to do so and they really aren't doing anything wrong.
The burden of the issue is on Faiona and I's shoulders to fix, not you guys. =)
We need to implement features that will address and fix the issue. And we will as soon as we're done working on the Winter Festival and can spend a few months improving features of the Site.

I'm not really blaming anyone. :p I just see the difference in people selling pets for cheap to be generous, those who sell them for cheap because they simply don't have the room to keep them, and then others that sell them for cheap to try to make a quick buck off of the pets that they find undesirable.
:\ I just, personally, think that its silly to sell unwanted pets at 1 gold just for the sake of selling them. I believe it is easier to just release them, instead of relying on someone to come along and buy my undesirable pet. That's just my point of view, of course. :p

I think that limiting the ability to breed is a BAD idea. No good can come of it, especially to those who do breeding projects.
However I think that limiting the number of pages in a hatchery is a great idea. I have seen more than enough posts complaining about someone who had tons of hatchery pets (mostly purchased from others) and not having stable space for them and still buying tons more hatchery pets... Just to let them get released because they still don't have space for them. It makes it a lot harder for people to hoard hatchlings.
I like the mentioned NPC and can't wait for it to be implemented.
Krin already sorta set a base line at 1k with the Omnomnom thing... So why not have that and implement a pet gifting feature?

I just get so e bad bred pets and wan to get rid of them or I release them. So I figure all I should do is put them up for 1G.

Ahhh game economies, just like global economies.....seems to happen in even the best of them, where things have to be done to adjust for the inflated economies, that all eventually seem to get over time.
And so, as pet populations continue to rise the prices will always continue to drop.
Maybe a simple fix to keep down the number of pets people own is having to keep up after them properly.
Having to kept them fed, otherwise if starved, the pet becomes "inactive" and a severe penalty imposed to reactivate the pet and make them healthy again. I never starved any of my pets yet, so not sure if there is a penalty and if there is how severe it is.
In my jaunts around looking at various stables I see many that are left without food. And you have to admit some people out there have a super large amount of pets in there stables.
I'm all for the pet auction idea, and look forward to that getting implemented into the game in 2014.
Maybe throwing out a new mutation from time to time on a breed as it becomes unpopular, to renew interest in that species and possibly steer prices that way.

Time for the two cents of a newbie:
I think limiting the number of pets in the hatchery is a good idea. I think having overly large hatcheries will deter people from nurturing such and such user's pets. I don't want people to get burned out on the nurturing aspect of the community. I commonly go into the chats and offer to exchange nurtures with other users. I don't feel quite as happy to reciprocate when I see that such and such person who has agreed to exchange with me has 5 or more pages of hatchlings/egglings (in those scenarios, I only do the egglings) compared to my (not even full) one page. I understand breeding projects as I'm starting one myself, but if you have PAGES of hatchlings where most don't even fit your breeding criteria and you just let them build up instead of releasing them, you have a problem.
As for selling, I don't like the idea of a base fee for it except for in the context that I will discuss below.
I joined this game for the lunemaras and was disappointed to learn I couldn't create one as my starter pet. With that in mind, I turned to the sales search and found some that I liked all for under 1,000g. For a new player, this was awesome. I got the breed I joined the game to play with AND I didn't have to play for days, weeks, or more just to get it.
That being said, I really wish there was a way to police what pets are put up for cheap pricing. I agree with above comments that someone shouldn't be selling them for 1g just to get rid of them. If it's an undesirable pet, release it. It's not a hard concept.
Maybe there could be a search feature that allows people to search for "newbie helper" pets. Cheap pets with maybe a couple of genes (vis or not) that don't look like mud, but are still cheap. That way, people can still sell pets that they don't necessarily want and new players can buy pets that they DO want. It would cut down on people posting their unwanteds for next to nothing instead of releasing because it'd be pretty obvious to tell who's actually helping new players and who's just trying to make a quick G. It could simply be a little box next to the sale price a person could check that says something like, "New Player Pet," or something.
If the pet isn't listed as a new player pet, then maybe there should be a base fee so that the breeder can still make money for their efforts and people with the money to buy them can.
Maybe also, people could only be listed as a new player for about a month or so. Plenty of time to learn the ins and outs of the game and plenty of time to make a little money. After that trial month, they no longer have access to the new player pets search. This cuts down on people abusing the system both as a buyer and a seller.
Again, just my two cents. Not sure how hard that would be to implement.
