You don't have to stat boost to breed. Not even if you're breeding for stats. The stat boost will help, but they aren't necessary. If you'd like some philters, you can have mine! (I don't stat breed) All they're doing is sitting in my inventory taking up much needed space. xD

Heh, now I'm getting confused. Seems like one does need philters to breed for higher stats, if offspring stats depend solely on parents' stats at their level 0 (or 1).

Well. You could either buy some already high stat pets or capture some. Enhanced and Mystical Essences start out a pet with extra stats.

And, if anything, you'd only need a few philters to start out. :)

The stats of the offspring are always boosted, when they hatch. The philters just help ensure that you can focus more on one stat, if you are aiming on focusing on just 1 stat. Nurture clicking, especially when there are lots(!), can boost stats FAR more than even the best philters, that you have to pay money for! One of my Ryori females had her stats boosted FAR above her brother's, because she was nurture clicked 40+ more times than him!
