I watch this girl cooly "Shall we just wait and see? It'll be time soon" I keep a mask over my face so I don't let my grief at not having parents slip through.

'Can you shut up? Your voice is annoying.' Viper says coldly while glaring at her with their odd orange eyes.

before i can spit out a biting retort towards the masked girl, Angela returns, holding a baggie of pills. "alright!" she calls out, drawing everyone's attention away from their conversations and towards her. "i have enough pills for each of you to take one, I'm going to give this to you to pass out amongst yourselves. please wait until i give the order to take your pills" she says, handing the baggie to the nearest person.

the bag makes it's way across the room to every person, before landing in my hands. there are three pills left when it reaches me, and i take one, passing it to the next person. once everyone has a pill, the bag is returned to her, and she takes it. "are you ready, everyone?" she asks, earning a chorus of "yes" from the eager crowd. "you may now take your pills" she says, before quickly stepping out the door to her left and bolting it shut.


i inspect the white pill in my hand, branded with the stylized SA that makes up the companies logo. closing my eyes i put it on my tongue, washing it down with the glass of water. it tastes of chalk and dirt, with a bad aftertaste that makes me grimace. other than that, nothing happens.

there's a moment of complete silence, stillness, as everyone waits for something. then, from across the room, a girl gasps, and the water begins rising from everyone's glass. i cringe when she gasps, the sound feels like it's running through my very bones, making my eyes fly open.

chaos erupts from the people as their powers activate on full blast. someone catches on fire with a loud "FWOOSH" that makes me take in a deep breath as the sound resonates deep with in my chest. something thrums deep within my bones, flowing out from my chest to my finger tips and the very tips of my toes.

Viper looked around at the chaos and wondered when thier power would kick in. They stared at their hands for a moment and sighed to themself.

I take the pill and then a sip of water. At first, it feels startlingly ordinary, but I know that isn't going to last long. Moment of truth, I think to myself, taking one last deep breath.

I take the pill and wait, after a while fire pricks at my fingers, a blast of flame swirls around me as I raise my hand with a grin. The fire cracks and whistles as I send it up into the air and catch it again, The fire licks up my legs and arms as I laugh for the first time in what seemed like years.

it's loud, and chaotic. people being overtaken by their own powers, powers clashing against each other in the confined space. the long haired girl next to me stands perfectly still, waiting for her power to kick in. the other one, the one i was going to snap at is doubled over in pain.

another wave of the strange feeling washes over me as someone screams loudly, and i fall to my knees, head snapping backwards. the glass in my hand begins to fracture, slipping from my hand and falling to the floor. despite all the noise and chaos, the sound of the glass shattering is all i can hear for a second, consuming all the other noise in the room, forcing me to focus in on it.

my mouth flies open, and a piercing, inhuman sound pries itself from my throat, and all the glasses in the room shatter at once, embedding shards of glass in peoples arms and faces as they try to shield themselves from the blast.

Viper covered their ears quickly, 'WHAT THE HELL?!' They yelled as the glass in their hand shattered and sliced their hand. They held their hand very tightly, noticing the pain was far worse that it should have been.

I hiss, covering my ears as fire burns people around me "SHUT UP" I roar as fire dances around and around me.

I look around me, taking it in with wide green eyes. Chaos. Absolute chaos. Something..... stirs deep with in me. Something primal, kicking into gear. And then I realize.
I look down at my hands, which are beginning to elongate into claws. I can see the energy in the room swarming and arcing around me, like frenzied bolts of pure power. I could reach out and grasp one of those arcs, bend it to my will.
Aura Manipulation. That's my power.
I laugh quietly to myself, feeling this raw, pure power inside me. It's all coming together now. It's terrifying, it's overwhelming, but it's also exhilarating. I can see the life force of every other person in the room and use it to my will! My heart rate skyrockets, adrenaline is pumping through my veins. It's happening. It's working!
