Thoughts on releasing: An economic necessity which should be incentivized. All these festivals, making it an achievement to collect one of everything - when there's no reason to want to keep one of everything - are only exacerbating the problem. I price my pets for what I think they're worth, and if they're not purchased I release them. This includes mostly my personal projects and various themed pets which for one reason or another no one is willing to pay for.
Amount of pets released: ~25k

Other notes:
I will actively release others' pets only on rare occasion, but as I'm a firm believer in the economic importance of what you're doing I thought I should join anyway as a show of support.

Thoughts on releasing: Overpopulation is taking a huge toll on the site's economy. Releasing is an important way to get unneeded pets out of the system. also the chance to get LG eggs from releasing older pets is really nice.
Amount of pets released: 53

So, uh, I don't know if I'm being stupid or if this is even worth a pinglist and I hope I'm not annoying anyone but, er, has anyone noticed how rude people are getting? I'm sure it's always been a problem, but, uh, I don't even know what I'm talking about here
I mean, look:

And there's someone (not mentioning username but I'm sure some of you know who) who has a blacklist for people who release their pets. And this is what they say about the people on their blacklist:

Great, so now what are we? Fake, childish, untrustworthy, wrongdoing people who think they're so superior because we've been playing for longer or take breeding seriously.
Well, that's at least what I felt was implied or stated.

I have no idea what I think I'm accomplishing with this but I feel like I need to do something. Do what? I don't know xD I'm probably making too big of a deal out of this but I'm more of a revenge rather than forgive and forget person. I feel like we need to do something to, I dunno, make people less rude? Wait, we can't. Never mind.

Aghhh I'm annoyed though.

*goes off to sulk in a corner*

People are different. What I believe and what I do may not align with what you believe or how you play the game. If people want to make a profit by selling 1g pets, and we're willing to enable that by paying for the privilege of releasing them, then the economy is doing its job. Supply is happening, demand is created, and everyone feels good about themselves.

I personally am inclined to think that paying to release others' pets is only going to encourage them to keep doing so for the guaranteed payoff, whereas if their pets sit unpurchased indefinitely they'll have no room nor incentive to continue doing so, but that's neither here nor there.

Some people get sentimental about creatures here. I personally see them more as means to an end, a visual spreadsheet as it were of traits and stats which I breed toward my ultimate aims, and which should be released when obsolete and no longer serving the project. Others get attached to them and feel they deserve a good home and an owner who will feed them every day. Then, when they do what they see as a generosity by putting the pet up for sale cheaply, only to have it callously thrown out into the wild, they lash back at the perceived villains who'd dare do so cruel a thing to a beloved pet.

And those are just the two most extreme opposites. Between lies an entire spectrum of how pets are viewed. There are always so many different sides and mindsets to consider. It's impossible to interact with others for any meaningful length of time without offending someone. Such is life.

Try not to let it bother you. And especially try not to lash back in anger, as kindness often does more to defuse a situation than any amount of retorts. I know how hard it can be to walk away when someone has misrepresented you, or when people blow simple things way out of proportion, but it really is best to give it space and calm down before reacting at all. Often, it's better to just let them think they have the last word and forget about it.

Thoughts on releasing:
It's a necicary part of the economy on this site and for the amount of space players have in their stables. It's defanitly sad to see pets starving in people's stables.
I want to note I'm not a huge activist and would probably not participate if someone came at one of you with insults or harassment, but want to show my support in other ways if I can. I'm sorry but I really am a coward.

Amount of pets released:
I don't really keep track but as of recently 174.
