Another fact that needs to be considered is that the boost goes until the pet grows into an adolescent. You get quite a few days so only having to pay the original 1k scales was quite overpowered in my own opinion. Krin is also still gathering data. Just having the new nurturing grounds for just under a week is nowhere near enough time to get enough data needed for a concrete amount to be decided on.
For now, the price was chosen to reflect the amount of nurturing being done currently and is most likely going to change once the Week of Love minifest is over. ^-^
I realize I'm late to the discussion, but I feel it's worth pointing out that the cousin of my high-statted boy you linked, hatched at the same time in the same batch, got fewer than 40 nurtures during the same high-traffic time frame (new feature + event). I really do not feel that changing the baseline is fair to the non-boosted players. It's hard enough to get nurtures as it is.
This is another thing affected by the amount of Nurture Boosted pets. The more pets that are Nurture Boosted, the less the non Nurture Boosted pets will be nurtured.
As has just kinda been reiterated thoughout the thread, I will continue to keep an eye on everything and adjust accordingly as things begin to settle.
Krin, is there a way to cancel the Nurture Boost? I only have one being boosted, but I only wanted it to hatch sooner.
There is not.
Just asking so I can try to understand better for future adjustments/changes, what reason would you want it to be specifically cancelled for?

Well, I was just wanting the egg to hatch, it is part of the Aeris that I am getting maxed mana. She will be the only one with a higher max, and it isn't needed/going to help. I will still need to use the mana max on her 2 offsprings. and the other set of aeris offspring.

For which reason I feel changing the baseline for when nurtured pets get boosts is a problem. The addition of a new feature should not be harming the average user who doesn't utilize it. If they're already going to be getting fewer nurtures, then making those few that they do get even less powerful is a bad thing.

1: see above post, I forgot to ping.
2: Separately to the above point, which remains valid regardless of this second thought, I would have suggested something similar to magic pies, personally, had I been present before the decisions were made. Instead of making the nurture boost more expensive, make it briefer in duration. 24 hours, instead of permanent. Give pets a cooldown before it can be used again. That makes it rarer, more expensive, and more accessible to average users. Sometimes, they may only need it for a day to hatch an egg, or to get the last few stast up. And if they need it for longer, pay for multiple days.
I know for my boost pets, I'd be far more willing to spend 1000 scales a day five times, rather than 5000 all at once.

This is an interesting concept. Would it be possible for the non-nurture boosted pets to retain original gain rates?

The change from 5 -> 8 was not because of the Nurture Boost feature, but because of the anticipated increase with general participation in Nurturing amongst the playerbase. I am attempting to keep things on par with how it was before the new Nurturing Grounds feature.

Hi Krin, sorry to bother you but, the nurture grounds isn't work for me.
I can click on the pet and get the pop-up bit, but when I nurture it, example - read it a book. the buttons grey out and the sight registers that I nurtured it, but the pop-up bit dosnt go away and I have no way of closing it besides refreshing the page, which kills the whole point.
The only thing that I can find being an issue is the fact I'm using explorer? idk, the pop-ups do close if im doing through a pets actual page (if a bit slower then before, but that could be my internet).
(Example of what I mean. The link just takes you to the bigger image so you can see the time stamp clearer.)
