I put a hand on Branch's chest to get him to stop, moving to a place where I can be hidden and can study the stranger to try and see what they're doing, and if there are any clues as to why they're here.
You move slightly into the trees so you can now see the stranger from a side view, whoever they are, seem to be collecting stones from the water's edge, they are humming to themselves contentedly.
Suspicious, for sure. Why would someone be collecting random stones here?
How close are we to me (my? I? Really have no idea) and Branch's oak?

(pffft english :p)
He's about 10 feet away.
(Ikr, grammar, like we need THAT e.e)
10 feet away from our homebase-tree-thingie is too close for comfort.
I move to scramble up onto Branch's back, carefully for the eggs' sake, intending to confront the stranger head on.

He seems excited at the prospect of food
She went to go and see whether there was anything she could find with a yawn, leading him with a hand on his shoulder.

As you make your way up Branch's back you brush past some branches in the tree and they rustle unnaturally, the stranger pauses what they are doing, and sits very still before returning to it but calling out "Hello? Someone there?"

The hooded figure pauses then continues walking but takes off the hood showing you the face beneath it.

I sigh. Fine, they know I'm here now - no matter. I'll just carry on climbing up Branch's back, then I'll quietly tell him to go say 'hi' to the stranger. Whoever it is, they seem fine with hearing noises from behind them in a land full of dragons - can't hurt to be cautious.
