Balthur raises a brow. "The wounds were shaped like hoofprints, but there weren't any lines that would suggest a cart went over it. That was a rider, son. Most likely that speeding messenger on his horse."
The Wyvern notices the Centaur for the first time and narrows its eyes, letting out a growl. Balthur turns, confusion written over his face, before something seems to dawn on him. He looks down at his lower horse half - and his hooves. "Ah... well now. I think you'll find just since I'm a little bit horse, doesn't mean I ran over you, now did I?"
The creature spits onto the ground at Balthur's feet, but stops growling. It looks back at you, cocking its head to the side in curiosity.
Skywhisper chirrups, lifting his wings from his sides so that you can put a parcel on his back.
I pick one up and put it on his back, then try to take one as well.

The sun is well above the horizon now and the frosts are thawing. Half a day and you should be at the border to the Central territories. From there you can either go southwards to find the Phoenixs' families or northwards to the Pegasus and Hellhound families. But you can decide where to go when you get to the Adventurer's Crossroads, where all four branches of the Adventurer's road meet at a grand city.

I want to go southward that way I can circle back to the Elvian capital.

It's as heavy as it looks, but still liftable. It takes a couple of rest stops, for you at least, but you make it to the Barrack Aeries and back in one piece.
The vendor just hands you the packs and waves you away, already turning to another customer. Skywhisper's feathers fluff up in outrage, but you've got his food for the journey and completed the favour, so there's not much worth doing about the vendor's rudeness.

The Wyvern huffs again, limping round the two of you and disappearing under the cart's tarpaulin. A second later, its head sticks out the front and settles on one side of the driver's bench.
"Excuse me?" Balthur chuckles. "Ack well, I've been needing a proper workout anyway. Come on, son, we'd better head. You'll be sharing the seat from now on though, see if you can work on that big lizard's bad attitude."
The Wyvern snorts and rolls its eyes.

Well, if you're keeping your promise to Crimson then it doesn't really matter which way you go. If you pick north then you'll just be doubling back once you've found the creature's families to head south again for the rest of the creatures, before circling back again to get to Elvenor, and vice versa.
The only thing to keep in mind is that the Southern territories are home to the Orcs and Goblins, who are incredibly rarely good, will most likely harm you and Crimson, and at this stage the other creatures you're finding their families for will probably not trust you enough to go near the Orcs and Goblins.
The Northern territories have paths that will be available to use at this time of year, and have fewer risks for your group. While you're still learning the tips and tricks of traversing the continent safely, the mountains will be a much better option for you to continue developing your skills.

"....Great." Nicote hops back up on the seat.
