(I'll make a note of that then - but Nicote may find the tonic hard to get, even as a bribe...
Though I'm happy you're happy with Creature Kin's version of Newt :P)

"So out of anyone, it's your brother that they would go to with a convincing story. If the stakes are so high, the ransomers must have singled you out for a reason," the colour drains from Balthur's face. "They must have captured me and Knight to lure you back in after they lost you, but it went wrong. We're in a dangerous position here."

Spork looks concerned too. "If southern territories think they play with war, means they think they ready for it. Not good - we need to warn brother before something go wrong."

"Which means we need to get out of here," Balthur agrees. "If your brother is influential enough to start a war, then your bluff could work. We stay quiet and look tough and let you do the talking, right? Are you ready to go?"

(Taking a break from lengthy travelling and getting a good rest somewhere comfortable are ways to get your character back to 'full' health.
And honestly that list is great - character name and the rough pages they turn up in is ideal. From there I can note down descriptions I've given myself. Don't worry about it though when you haven't got the time)

He gives a shaky nod and leaves.

Numbat scratches his head. "Nah - an orc would never take orders from a goblin. Probably central territories - there are a lot of lawless towns all around more than willing to. In that case we're likely talking about average quality gear which will get better as time goes on if they're allowed to."

He beams. "Thanks! And uh... yeah, sure. I think most of them went off to go and dig holes though, and there are a couple at the centre of the camp now waiting for you. Maybe a few will come to me after to watch..?"

(No worries)

Night
--
The leader of the snow-clearers comes up to you. "There ya go. These are two of my most stealthy clearers, other than Havdur who seems to have disappeared," Daavun says with a grimace. "He has a habit of doing that. These two though used to be mercenaries who served with your lot, the Rangers."

They certainly seem a lot more battle-hardened than the rest of the clearers, and they stand to attention as you approach. They appear vigilant, and size you up warily like they would a threat.

"Havdur is doing a job for me," Asteria explains watching the two mercenaries, "At ease. First I'd like to know information you already know that way I'm not telling you what you already know. Second how good at stealth are you?"

With the reaction from the Pass guards, it certainly looks like you might. Your group approaches with faltering confidence into the firelight as a dozen guards jump up with weapons, shouting in warning.

The chief swaggers over, warhammer slung over his shoulder. He gives you and Spork a piercing look and growls: "Din't we just see you worms crawl through 'ere earlier? Yer leaving with more prisoners, shortie," he addresses Spork, "it's supposed to be the other way around."

The other warriors slowly begin to form a circle, not looking intimidated enough to move quicker than that.

(The fact you're already on page 116 odd scares me, slow down xD But thanks!)

"Ah," Daavun nods. "That's fine. I'm needed elsewhere, I'll let you take over."

The two merceneries look at each other. "A dozen or so orcs have attacked our camp three times in the past week. They come at night, damage our things and kill an unlucky few each time. Always from the west, disappearing into the woods again without trace," one says, shaking her head. "Daavun never gave us permission to pursue them, so we don't know much more.

The other shrugs. "We always had to be as good as the other rangers in the company we assisted. So I would say pretty good," he offers. "We know the terrain and have led ambushes before. I'd reckon that is the sort of skillset you are looking for?"

"Yeah, well, thats how deals work buddy. I get tp run around and have fun, he gets prisoners with higher value then the outcast of society." Nicote snorts. "Irs a win-win, dont tell me you wouldnt take high-ranking officialsand their relatives in the elvern governing system if you had the chance. Capturing me is just a favor to them as far as theyre concerned."
