As you cuddle around them you feel the mother give a last breath and relax against you. She seems calm in death, happy knowing she has someone who can care for her pups in her place.

Everyone around you sleeps quietly, the rain has stopped and the ground is cold. You can smell winter in the wind and a cool breeze ruffles your fur.
