The line-art looks amazing as always but I sorta wish you had kept the quad legs. =/ Without the back legs they don't look original anymore and instead look like fancy versions of the peophins from neopets:

LOL I didn't realize the similarity until now.

Maybe quad legs can be a mutation by themselves?
I feel like Kelparis were probably made as such to be more distant from Qitaris than related. Before, both were pretty much water or land equines, but now, one is closer to water-relation.

Well I'm just nervous about too many "Neopets" relations since the Bulbori also looks a little like the neopets Cybunny

I just hate them being really similar since I also play neopets (Have for over 13 years now) and I loved the fact Sylestia was a virtual pet site but the creatures and other stuff were original and its own.

I think the similarities you're seeing are because the creatures are based on the same things outside of both games (namely hippocampi and bunnies >>) Personally I see very little similarity between peophins and the new kelpari other than the fact they're both horses with fish tails. The new kelps are so elegant and long and beautiful. The peophins... well, not so much, but then they're supposed to be more squat and cartoony. Again, the similarities are there because the 'muse', if you will, is the same.

Well I can see that with the Kelp but not the Bulboris- bunnies don't have a thick ring of neck fur. I mean the gems and claws of the Bulbori are pretty unique. Its the neck fur that's really too similar to the Cybunny. Besides, The four legged Kelp was more unique because one set of legs were hoofs and the other were webbed. Now they look almost exactly like their muse, the hippocampi. So what makes them Kelparis and not just a fancy hippocampus?

I agree with Mika, I don't think Sylestis or Neopets aren't far from the animals/muses they're based off of (I call em horses, water horses, and bunnies). But I think that's what makes Sylestia relatable -- I find it hard to like a pet site where the pets are so original that they hardly have a pet in reality that they resemble. (I wanna say that I'm thinking of Marapets (but I haven't played it in a long time so I don't know the pets anymore), or some game where the pets are so varied, I'd rather have a simple digital version of something real.)

And Metal, I can see where you can draw the similarities. And I can understand the worry aha.

I think Sylestia can use genes and mutations to their advantage, because customization is hard to find in mainstream virtual pet games (like Neopets or Pokemon). It makes every pet slightly "different" with each generation, and Sylestia can boast about uniqueness of many pets, from color schemes to trait combos, unlike Neopets, where each pet only has a paintbrush or accessories to differentiate themselves from one another.

For the Kelpari in particular, I think of the examples in the Gene/Mutation contest, and there's room for Kelparis to be more unique. Different fins and outfits and markings make them all unique, but to a point, they'll still have some resemblance to water horses, which won't be avoidable.

True but I still dislike the fact they're getting rid of the quad legs because they could still represent water horses while having four legs. Now they look just like hippocampus creatures instead of being unique. Even with added genes and mutations.

This look is a much more appealing look, adorable even! I might actually find myself needing/wanting Kelpari rather than... passing them up when I am attacked by them xD Much praise to the artist who came up with the artistic adjustments.
