(Sorry, where was your planned destination?
I had thought you wanted to go to the Adventurer's Crossroads - which you have arrived on the outskirts of and just need to wander through the gates.

He jumps onto his feet, feathers fluffed up a little in mild offense. "I'm perfectly alright. I have a lot more energy left in me yet."

"I'm Nicote Marker, the wyvern's my familiar Knight, the centaur's Balthur, and the orc's Spork." Nicote goes straightforward with it, mostly because 1. Balthur's probably been through through here with his whole traveling thing and 2. he might get away with privellages if he uses his actual name, just becuase he's not exactly famous like his brother doesn't mean he can't get away with using Newt's post as extended privellage.
He'll be really amused if they think he's the dangerous criminal though.
Morning
--
As you near, you see that the orcs are arguing over a roll of material. The goblin merchant appears to sell various practical cloths and fabrics, with some animal leathers on display across his counter. He looks hesitantly glad when he spots your interested, perhaps hoping you'll be able to stop the bickering.
One orc snarls, "I saw it first!" she places her hands on her hips and stares down the other.
"I don't care," the second responds, spittle flying as her face grows steadily more stormy. "You 'aven't got enough coins for it anyhow. That means it's mine!"
"I can barter for it - you interrupted me while I was trying to make a deal. So step back, shut up, and let me finish," she orders.
You don't currently have the desired item they want so much - you'll have to think of another way to resolve the conflict.
"Oh." Pike murmurs when he realizes this wouldn't be as easy to fix as he had first thought. He thinks about asking whether or not the roll of material is enough for both to share, but if the orcs are like his family, they would use every last bit of that material without a thought of sharing it with anyone else. Pike begins to take a step back before he pesters himself into trying as best as he can to help the merchant.
"Is there a first come first served policy here?" Pike asks the goblin merchant while looking around for another material merchant that might have the same material. "If that's the case, the one who saw it first should try a barter. If that doesn't work out, the other can buy it."
Either way, he doesn't want to get between the two orcs or try to reason with them.

He nods sadly. "I haven't seen them for a very long time. I doubt they would want to see me."
He shoots you a grin. "I've already told one story today - I don't like to tell too many in one sitting. Ask me again another time. We've got to get some rest right now, anyway."
He bids you good night, then realises and corrects himself before retiring to his tent.
"Sleep well Numbat," Asteria responds walking into her own tent to hopefully get some rest herself.

Afternoon

The elf stops at an entry on his scroll, looking up at you sharply. The other two guards tense and look at him as he asks: "Was that 'Nicote Marker'?" he clarifies, casting a wary glance to your familiar.
The tone he uses has the rest of your group looking uncomfortable.

You don't know what either orc wants the material for, but by the looks of things they wouldn't stain their pride by accepting such a compromise. You also look around the marketplace - there might be what looks like another linen merchant halfway across the square, but by the time you bully through the crowds to make sure there is no telling how far the dispute would have escalated.
"Yes," the goblin answers your question, agitatedly. "And I tried to explain that to the second lady who wished to buy my product, but she wouldn't listen. She insisted she must have this material right now, and then... this happened," he gestures helplessly to the arguing orcs.
Since you didn't try to break into their argument, they haven't turned their ire onto you - giving you a chance to talk to the merchant. They carry on bickering, the tension growing thick in the air.

Afternoon

The snow-clearers must have been working pretty quietly for the most part, because you sleep right through most of the day; only woken up as a commotion starts up towards the centre of the camp.
You can make out a muffled: "Where is the ranger?" shouted above all of the other voices.
Paws swipe at your tent and you hear concerned whining from the other side.

"I heard them," Asteria says as she gets out of the tent. Careful not to forget her bow she looks at the pups lovingly, "Be careful you two and please stay together. I'll be back soon." She carefully yet quickly goes towards the center of camp. Wondering what had everyone worried she tries not to scare anyone.

"Who else? If this is about the warehouse, paying back whoever owns that place is on my to-do list, I just needed hair dye really urgently." Nicote raises an eyebrow. "I wouldn't be beelining for the front gates if I was actively trying to avoid debt, would I? Now can we please go, my gorup and I haven't been able to properly rest in a while and I'm legit about ready to drop on the ground and sleep for a week."
Evening

By the time you settle the egg in the blanket-nest, it has warmed up again.
It'd never hurt to ask.
As you step down the stairs you can see that Rythia's cafe outdoor seating area is empty, the chairs tidied away on top of the tables. Entering the lower floor of the Turvy Turnip, you can see a few patrons still lingering at the bar being served drinks by Rythia behind the counter. She appears to have finished some story; the gathered centaurs, elves and a lone goblin begin chuckling.
"Right, now off with you lot - I've got to close up shop," she says with a grin, taking empty tankards. "See you again tomorrow."
They bid her farewell and filter out, squeezing past you as they head for the door.
(Phew lol)
I wait for them to leave before approaching Rythia and clearing my throat to get her attention. "Excuse me, but do you happen to have a lamp or something similar that I can borrow? It looks like business is going well," I add offhandedly.
