Yeah, my mom's dad had 9 siblings. 6 teachers, 3 MD's (counting him) and one farmer (who just loved farming). My mom's mom also had 9 siblings...5 teachers (counting her), 2 MD's, 2 PhD's (one ancient history and one biology) and one brother who sold coal mining equipment to the mine owners.
My dad's family was less well-educated, book-wise, but they all were voracious readers. My dad was always the newest, latest and greatest tech guy. He taught me to build crystal radios when I was a kid, and we had color TV and a VCR before most of the other people on the block.
Don't worry about not going to the most prestigious university. I went to Ohio University instead of Ohio State, but in going there I got to work with the cutting edge of genetics. I was in on the nation-wide research project that proved DNA electrophoretic gel autographs could be used to identify individuals, even closely-related ones and eventually paved the way for DNA evidence to be used in court. And the team I worked with on my undergraduate research rotation ended up being the first guys to transfer a mammalian gene from one species to another (rabbit to mouse) and have the "foreign" gene not only function, but be inherited and fully functional in the F1 generation. So cool. Sometimes what people think is a step backwards is just you having the right sense of direction.

Hello all! Id like to join this nerd-off *hehehehehe*
I specialize in zoology, any and all math (of course though Im still in high school and don't know what I haven't learned- which is pastAlgebra 2, what Im in now), mythology, chemistry/biology/physics, history (although American history I never really learned, as I dont live in the USA), I also speak fluent Spanish and some German. I also enjoy reading- like a LOT so I have a bunch of random sci fi/fantasy knowledge. I know a ton of random facts as well, but you cant really quiz on random stuff xD
Anywho, Id like to be challenged!

Greetings! I think I would like to take on your challenge!
I like to say I am a huge nerd when it comes to mythology. The mythologies I know best are Greek and Eoman, of course, but also Norse and a little bit of Egyptian.
For example, did you know the Norse had a god of snowshoes, skis, and such? His name is Ullr.
I also am a huge fan of Rick Riordan, but I have only read all his mythology based books.
Reading is my strongest point. I was reading eighth grade level books in the third grade. I am currently witing a book that several people who have proof read it think is good so far. And I love art.

Very nice!
I got into mythology for a while (all Greek like the noob I am), memorized the story of Icarus (more like Daedaluss story when you get into it, isnt it ;w;) and a few other random stories... Im afraid Ill always be more a video game historian than a mythical one, though -///-
A god... specifically for snow ware? Impressive xwx
Eh, I dont particularly like his writing style, but I can see why you like him. He makes really cool stories, Ill certainly acknowledge that.
I was reading college level in middle school and couldnt figure out what the big deal was >w< My reading has slowed significantly, though. Ive picked up a book on coding in C#, but not much else other than that. Not much time.
Im also writing a book! (Its in other fiction forum -///- I dont recommend it...) whats yours like?
Ive worked daily on art for two years and think Ive gotten pretty far (not that it shows digitally... but my traditional arts improved)
You might be disappointed by how little I know though lol >.<;

-What kind of music stuff? (even though simon and garfunkel, original authors of Sound of Silence, eventually split up, they remained friends and even continued to work on projects together)
-What kind of animal stuff? (no one in the western hemisphere knew the okapi existed until they were spotted by some american guy or something like that, and though they were thought to be relatives of the antelope or something, they're actually the only relatives of the giraffe)
-Ya know Daedalus was banished to Crete for throwing his nephew off of the tallest building in Athens out of jealousy and that's why he met his wife and had Icarus....
-Ooh, inappropriate stuff... there's a way to change font color to white, you know....
Never disappointed, that's for parents, this is a safe haven
