I nod thankful for the information, then step out of the way so Heather can get to work, but stay nearby to help as required, I also keep an ear out for predators the scent of blood might attract them.

I'll start by prying apart the edges, the farthest bits away from her, then slowly work my way down to the centre and eventually propping the stick in the ground to keep the trap open enough for her to take her leg out.

After a biit of struggle and a harsh clang the trap snaps open, Sapling leaps backwards, letting out a whimper when she lands on her paw. The trap snaps back down, screeching loudly.
