Red Velvet Cake Zolnixi--took my ideas from the traditional Red Velvet Cake, which (hold onto your hats) did not have
any red food coloring. The red color came from the chemical reaction between two of the ingredients (buttermilk and vinegar) and the cocoa people had available back then. Most modern cocoa won't react in the same way because it's processed differently, so people use red food coloring. These pets' deep red color is the color of a Red Velvet Cake made
without food coloring. The original cake's frosting was made from flour, but it looked like cream cheese frosting, and cream cheese or butter-cream frostings are tastier anyhow. Other colors come from optional ingredients such as pecans, pineapple, coconut, and milk, dark, and white chocolate.

"The sun rose.
"The light...streamed like a silent gale. It was dazzling....The great red ball turned frost to fire along the winter branches.
"Gold light slammed into the mountain peaks, making every one a blinding, silent volcano. It rolled onward, gushing into the valleys and thundering up the slopes, unstoppable..."
That's from a novel called
Hogfather, by Sir Terry Pratchett. It's describing the dawn after the night of winter solstice on another world. However, whether the holiday is called Hogswatchnight, Yule, Christmas, or Saturnalia, the idea is the same. At the core of all those holidays--after the longest, deepest night of the year--the Sun
will come up so the world can keep on living.
Therefore, I present the Solstice Dawn Lunemara--
