"Ah, come now. There's no need to be so sad." The green light says, floating next to you. "He was just another tribute. Plus, if there's an after life, you're bound to meet him again soon enough."

"Shut up." Tears stung her eyes. "I'm going to survive, for Nikkie. No matter what you say." She put no emotion on her face, though if you looked in her eyes you could see fear, sadness, and anger.

"Ah, so valient. So young. So killable. Well, I wish you luck... You're going to need it." The green light zipped off with a cackle.
The road forks.
Left - webs along the side and occasionally on the floor
Forward - lilting song
Right - more runes

"I've learned from the spiders. I may head toward the song." She started walking forward.

The song ebbs and flows, but it is quite peaceful. A few minutes continuing along this path shows there being three singing elves sitting around a fire. They were holding hands and closing eyes, intent on whatever they were doing. Suddenly, the song pitters out and ends. One glances up at you, fiery red hair slipping over one of her eyes. "Hullo. What has brought you here?" The elves drop each others hands and each turn to look at you, smiling amicably as they await your answer. One of the elves, who looks around Nikkie's age, was fiddling slightly with the cuffs of the sleeves of his shirt.
"Jack, fall still. I can't believe dad let you come." the other older elf says, gently taking the younger ones hands in her own.
"I promise I'll be good! I can behave meself." the elf squeaks.

"Oh, uh, I was following the sound of singing. While I was trying to get away from the green ball of gas that wants to kill me." She sort of looked relieved that it wasn't another monster. It was hard trying to find each ine's weakness. "Or wants to mind control me. Already killed Nikkie after mind-controlling him so I'm not sure what Oran has planned for me."

The older elves nod in understanding. The youngest one seemed to be trying to figure out what 'killed' meant. "Please accept our deepest condolences. We've heard about how Oran has been demanding tributes. How can we help you?" The elf that had spoken before says.
Then other older elf heads into a door in one wall, coming back out with some nice warm food for everyone. She hands you a warm cup of herbal tea.
Jack seems to be just there, learning what he can.

She took a small sip. "Thank you. The thing I need the most is a safe place to stay for the night. " She looked a little tired now, the adrenaline no longer fueling her.

"Of course, little one. We shall watch over you, keep you safe." The eldest elf said.
You rest the night, and in the morning the elves are still there. The second oldest elf offers you breakfast, Jack was already eating.
"Morning!" Jack says cheerfully , waving at you. The oldest elf wasn't there at the moment.

"Good morning! Thank you." She smiled cheerily, before she remembered she was still in the labyrinth. But... I'm still alive so it is a good morning. I didn't somehow die overnight.
