I let out a slow breath, as the wind tousled my hair. I looked back at the stone, resting innocently in the palm of my hand. Where had that music come from, and what connection did it have to the stone in my hand. If I sang it, then would the earth move again. I knew that I would have to leave if I ever wanted answers.

But my eyes drifted towards the well maintained house of my master, I had spent my entire life here, and I knew that soon other slaves would be up and about, getting ready for the day.

I knew I had to leave now.

Closing my eyes, I gathered my courage and began to walk, careful to keep my pace casual. Too slow and someone might mistake me for sneaking away, too fast and they'd think me running away.

Don't talk to me, don't look at me, nothing out of the ordinary. Those words filled my head like a mantra, as I made my way past my Owner's property.
