Can you not breed generated pets?

No, you can breed them. You can breed ANY pet, unless someone used an Infertility Philter on it, which cannot be undone.

In this case, I expect you only just generated a pet; newly generated pets begin life at the start of their 'adolescent' life-phase (216/648 maturity hours), so there's a wait before they hit adulthood (648/648 maturity hours) before they can breed.

If you're talking about this sylesti, all generated (and genetested) pets show their current age in maturity hours next to their life stage. In this case (at time of writing) "Maturity: Adolescent (225/648)", so she has 423 hours (just shy of 18 days) until she hits adulthood and can breed (though as with all adolescents this process can be accelerated via magical pie)

if you look at your starter, this is her age:
"Age: 15 Days
Maturity: Adolescent (579/648)"

She has 69 hours left to adulthood (just under three days)
