With Crimson's warmth seeping through you, you sleep comfortably, despite the noises from outside.
In the morning, Crimson isn't in the tent. She must have slipped away while you were still sleeping. Not only that, but you hear strange noises outside.

In the morning, Crimson isn't in the tent. She must have slipped away while you were still sleeping. Not only that, but you hear strange noises outside.
I walk outside the tent with caution ready if it's trouble.
Skywhisper trots ahead of you, leading you through the streets until you reach the massive square that sits in front of the Aeries.
You are filled with awe as you take the Elven Aeries in for the first time in years. Its majesty has not lessened since you were a child. It towers above you, carved into the sides of the mighty Stonewood forest.
The Stonewoods are held in great regard by all Elves, their hole-ridden surface perfect for nesting Griffins.
In the square are many Griffin riders and experts, chatting and milling around. There are some market stalls and stores specifically for Griffin related things here. But what interests you and Skywhisper is the one carved into the largest Stonewood tree, with the sign reading: 'Egg Bank'.
I stare for a moment before remembering my task and going towards the Egg Bank.

A Wyvern is a strange sight though, not many are seen outside of the depths of the Old Forests. He's only going to get more attention as you head further away from them.
Unfortunately there will be no more shade from the sun out in the Central territories. From here on out it will be sparse grasslands and meadows. You'll just have to hope your hood shields you from the sun.

When you emerge from the tent you realise that your caution wasn't necessary. Around the remnants of the fire the runaway creatures have gathered. Crimson is play-fighting with the other Hellhound, the two Phoenix are eating a Critter together and Shootingstar is grazing on the dew-kissed grass.
When they notice you, however, they give noises of fright and retreat back a ways into the forest. Crimson, startled at the sudden flurry of motion, runs over to you and looks around before realising you're what scared the creatures. She huffs.

Nearing the stall you see that there is quite a long line of Griffin riders, all hoping for a clutch of eggs. This'll be a long wait.
Behind the counter of the stall a reedy-thin man dressed in thick riding leathers fills in forms for every Griffin rider. Some he turns away, some he hands a bulky sack with the distinctive shapes of three eggs. The Dwarf wasn't lying about that part at least.
Skywhisper is looking longingly at the Stonewood tree Aeries, where many other Griffins are flitting around.

"No need to get too excited, son," Balthur says, trotting over the marked border. As soon as the cart is fully in, he takes a deep, contented breath. "Ah, now that's what that dingy forest is missing. Nice, clean, fresh air, the smell of wildflower on the breeze... not the fetid smell of rot and shadows everywhere you see."
At least the Wyvern looks as miserable as you are. He gives a grunt of disapproval at Balthur's surmising.

"You can go fly with them if you want," I tell Skywhisper.
