Balthur chuckles and speeds up to a trot. "You'll only be missing out."
The day passes by slowly, the sun shining down on you throughout. The Centaur's stories are the only things that distract you from the insufferable heat.
The Wyvern sighs in relief by the time the sun is touching the horizon. You've made good progress through the spacious terrain, even if it was hard to endure. But you got through it nonetheless, and have something to show for it.

Balthur pulls over to set up camp.
"I kept some wood aside for tonight, since we aren't going to find any out here," he says, taking off his harness. "If you start the fire I'll prepare something for us all to eat. You're in my homeland now, I won't have you both going hungry."

Skywhisper bobs his head gratefully, unfurling his wings and shooting off into the sky and joining the distant forms of the other Griffins. Soon the only way you can tell him apart from the rest is with your Familiar bond.
It seems like hours before you finally reach the egg distributor at the Stonewood tree stall. He looks at you from the corner of his eye, raising his pen above one of the forms. "Name," he orders in a flat tone.

When you emerge from the tent you realise that your caution wasn't necessary. Around the remnants of the fire the runaway creatures have gathered. Crimson is play-fighting with the other Hellhound, the two Phoenix are eating a Critter together and Shootingstar is grazing on the dew-kissed grass.
When they notice you, however, they give noises of fright and retreat back a ways into the forest. Crimson, startled at the sudden flurry of motion, runs over to you and looks around before realising you're what scared the creatures. She huffs.
I frown, "Sorry if you want I can just go back in the tent and leave you all to playing." I feel their pain when they ran away and only wish to help them.
Balthur chuckles and speeds up to a trot. "You'll only be missing out."

"Stay here," he says, going back into the carved out room. He rifles through filing cupboards before bringing out a piece of parchment. He comes back to you and reads it. "So your Familiar is the Griffin Skywhisper, son of Twilightarrow?" he asks.

Crimson rubs up against your leg. I know it hurts that they don't trust you, but you need to give them time to get over their capture, she comforts. They're just not as brave as me and Shootingstar. They were taken when they were younger than we were.
The Pegasus foal stands on the other side of the fire, and there isn't a trace of fear in his gaze. Just wariness, but it's better than nothing. Three pairs of eyes look on from the edges of the forest, lingering just inside the darkness of the shadows.
Let's get going. They'll follow us, Crimson says. We've all eaten.

I pet Crimson, "Thank you I needed that. All of you please listen I promise I will you back to your parents and I won't harm you ever."
I quickly pack up camp and stamp out of the ashes of the fire.

Something like curiousity and relief sparks in the eyes of the other creatures. Perhaps that was just what they needed as well. You're trying really hard to show them you mean them no harm, and they seem to understand that.

You set off along the Adventurer's Road once more, grateful to hear the sounds of the creatures moving through the forest alongside you. They grow silent when others pass on the road, but come back when it's just you and Crimson.
By midday you start to notice the forest thinning out. Crimson runs ahead, barking excitedly.

"What do you smell Crimson," I ask her.
