Would it be possible to get the bidding more set up like eBay than the current style?

Currently, a bidder simply says "This is what I will pay" and they're at the mercy of other bidders who sneer and go "I'll pay that plus 1000!" At least with eBay, the lowest value is shown, but if the leading bidder opted to put in a much higher bid (say the lowest bid is $30 but they will go up to $50), other bidders either have to waste their time increasing by small amounts (and the deadline might be reached before that happens), or risk putting in a bid much higher than they anticipated to overcome their rival's unknown maximum bid.

I don't know if this would be too difficult to program but it is certainly better than everyone making stupid minimum increases to ruin everyone else.

I don't understand how that would make things work any better.

It's pretty basic. I can't make it any simpler.

If I understand correctly, it'd work like this. Let's say Egg #3 is at 20k. You bid 200k. So the bid increases on Egg #3 to 21k (1k min increase).

Now, let's say it's the last minute and someone tries to swipe it and they bid 100k. Your bid of 200k is still higher, but their bid forced the price up to 100k.

At least, I believe that's what April was saying.

So it's a hidden bid?
So if I'm willing to go say, up to 400K on an egg.... I would bid a min 1K on the egg...and if the egg doesn't reach that value (400K), then I win it for the 400K max bid I secretly made. OR if someone else has a secret bid higher than my 400K, or if the egg value goes over 400K and any other secret bids, then it would go to that player.
Am I correct with that?

That would stop the last second sniping issue :) And leave everyone wondering if they won that egg or not until the results are announced.

Found an article here...so I believe I got it right then up there ^^ :)

I'd have to say I like the idea though..being one of those that have lost an egg at literally the very last second!

*edited due to confusion*
I like the hidden bidding *only* if its set up as a true blind auction and not simply a computer upping the bid for you. A blind auction is where one simply bids the highest amount they are willing to bid and leaves it at that. When the auction ends then the person who bid the highest amount takes home the prize, everyone else gets a refund.
I think the easiest solution to end the last second sniping is to simply not have a set time to end the auction. Instead of saying it will end at 3:00pm, say it will end between '2:30 and 3:00pm' then Krinadon can randomly shut down the auction any time between those 2 time periods. Then people who really want their egg have a chance because snipers will never know if the auction will end at 2:32 or 2:47 or 2:58 ect. and not be able to wait until 2:59:58 to put in a very last second bid. It won't stop last minute bidding so you still have to watch your egg and have bid wars (that's part of an auction and makes it fun) but it WILL end the last second sniping problem.
The only issue I see with my idea is people accusing Krinadon of playing favorites if the same people always win. But I think that accusation will always be around regardless so yea! Just my 2 cents :)
I like the egg auctions as they are but the literal last second sniping makes it not half as fun. I'd rather have last minute bid wars with an unknown ending.

Well honestly people with a lot of gold saved up are going to win the wheel pets regardless due to them being rare and worth a lot. The only thing I dislike about the current system is last second sniping. If you implement a *hidden* bidding system then you may as well just make a true blind auction where you bid once with the highest amount your willing to spend on the egg and highest bid at the end gets it. There is no raising the bid and you don't know the results until the very end when you either get a refund of coin or an egg. I just don't really like the idea of a computer bidding for people. I dunno if that makes sense?

Well I think that no matter which way an auction is,the highest bidder gets the item/egg.So no matter which way you do it, people still bid, and whoever bids the most, gets the item/egg.

Also to be honest snipping is also a part of I think all auctions.....
