I'm assuming the pet you linked is the plain father you bred the babies from?
If you look at his parents, his dad is a 6vis
This means your pet has a carry in all of his trait slots. Because a visible trait will always pass something down to the offspring. So while the pet looks plain, He has a 50% chance to pass down something to his offspring.
If you want to know whether a pet has carried traits, you'll need to have the pet genetically tested. If you don't have a test kit, there are players that offer free testing services in the breeding forum. When the pet is tested, you'll be able to see carried traits listed on the profile in italics, and on the advanced search.

Is it necessary to buy extra stable tabs? I've heard stables can hold up to 200 sylesties, but it looks like each tab can only hold 25. Does this mean you have to buy tabs in order to have more than 25 sylesties living in one stable?

What exactly is the success rate of traps? Ive only been on here for a couple days, but Ive already used at least 4 traps and the only thing Ive caught is from the "instant-catch trap that Jinxie gave me. Its getting a little annoying.

The success rate is not very high, though I'm not sure what's the exact number, since there is a random factor involved. I have personally gone over 10 traps before a successful catch before.
Some things to improve your chances of success:
- lower the health of the pet you want to catch
- use better traps to catch (you unlock more types of traps with each region)
these are especially important when you eventually reach the lost grove. In that zone, each failed attempt to catch a pet makes them more desperate, which stacks up buffs that increases damage dealt to your party.
But at your level, I'll say it's not really worth catching pets, unless you see one you really love.
Other cheaper ways to get pets would be the scale shop (nurture to get scales), and using the advanced search to find pets on sale (you can choose species, gender, traits, price range)

Edit: I figured it out I think.
When capturing a Sylesti what do the colors of the stars mean? I know that more stars equals more powerful, but so far I've seen some with green stars and some with blue stars and of course many of the gray stars. I know that the green ones are uncommon and the blues are rare, but does that actually have any impact on the Sylesti once you have captured it? I've even captured a couple of the green star ones, but I still can't tell what the difference is between them and a normal (gray star) Sylesti.
