Have you worked on the Sylestia wiki before?: no
If yes, what have you added? If no, do you have other wiki experience?: no
Are you interested in working on a specific aspect of the wiki?: (events, avatar items, etc.) I'd be happy to work on any part of it.

I made an account and I was trying to decide what to start on first. I see there's individual avatar item pages that lack information on how items were obtained. I was trying to figure out how to go about doing it and making it look good. Any advice?
I figure for where past avatar items came from it'll take looking through old festival news threads and there's been avatar item guides. I had one myself that's severely outdated but it might still be useful for seeing how certain items used to be obtained.

I'll look through and see if I can find more guides that could be possibly useful and add them here.

Just my thoughts for avatar items:
-categories for held/outfit/head/wings/back etc
-each item gets a page
-for outfit, describe on each page what part gets colored (Top 1, Top 2, Bottom 1, Bottom 2, etc)
-same thing for each other type of item (heads: head 1 and 2)
-also include in a separate heading on the page where to get the item
-include a picture pop up thingy at the top of the page of the male and female default outfit
-at the bottom after the informational sections of each page, maybe a small gallery of sample avatars (both female and male) wearing the outfit
-bottom Directory can consist of a Directory of relevant avatar categories (links to list of held/outfit/heads/etc) and a Directory of relevant source to get it from (links to list of avatar items from festivals, or Directory of monthlies)

I was wondering if you could make a prototype of what you mean exactly? I know you've been busy though so I understand if you can't. But I could then try to just copy exactly how you do it?

There's been discussion of whether things like avatar items should have individual pages for each item vs pages that group the items. A couple of us are going to work on avatar shop items with examples as individual pages and then a grouped page for comparing the two ways. Then we could make a poll on what other users think is the best system?
This might be a bit slow since I haven't worked on a wiki before.

One of the things I'm going to put on the first page is a template of sorts, to ensure that each page gets the same amount and quality of information. Flute's list pretty much covers it for avi items, but I think it would be easiest for people to contribute if we had templates for each category.
As far as what to do for individual items - I'm with Flute. I think they should each have their own pages - but it wouldn't be difficult to make a sub-category for groups of similar items. Like we could make sub-categories for different colored versions of the same item.
Hope that made sense, lol. After work I'm going to see about making an example/template page, and get some categories sorted out.
Thanks for your input!

That sounds like a great plan. I figure if nothing else I got to work on one wiki page last night to get experience. I'm really thankful to Flute who helped show me how to do some stuff. I'm still confused by how to do stuff but I ended up figuring out how to copy paste page sources to use as templates if nothing else.

I've been more busy than usual but I'm hoping this week after the contest entries and kelpari revamps are over that I'll have more time to work more on avatar entries on the wiki again.
I've been saving what images I can find of kelparies submissions of ones that became themes in case it might be of interest later on the wiki? However, some kelparies were admin created instead. At least the peanut brittle and the parrot fish. I think maybe one or two others.

Now that the contests are over and the kelpari revamp is out I'll probably get started on the wiki again in a couple days. I was wondering though about the images used for the avatar items. Should all the images of avatars wearing recolorable outfits use the exact same colors each time or does it matter?
